Enforcement of
,Restitution Laws
BUCHAREST (JTA)—The
Ministry of Justice has instructed
the Romanian high courts to give
special attention to applications
filed by Jews seeking the return
of homes from which they were
ousted during the Antonescu
regime. The ruling was neces-
sary because of complaints from
the provinces that, despite the
inclusion of this clause in the
restitution laws, judges were re-
jecting such applications.
The stabilization of Romanian
currency has brought the work
of all Jewish organizations in
the country to a standstill and
they are presently without funds
since the old currency cannot yet
be converted into the new. Con-
sequently, Jewish relief groups
have been unable to claim ship-
ments which are waiting at Con-
stanza. The OSE and Hechalutz
organization were compelled to
liquidate their summer colonies
in order to pay the salaries of
their employes. The new price
levels and exchange rates have
also forced the J. D. C. to revise
its assistance programs.

NEW YORK, (JPS)—"Golden
Rules," the second of a projected
series of books in Hebrew, Eng-
lish and Yiddish by Dr. Aaron
Rosmarin, dealing with Jewish
teachings and ethics has been
published by the Om Publishing
Company, 46 Canal St., New
York.
The book seeks to show how
the Jew has acted in the past,
and how he should act, in ac-
cordance with the precepts of
Judaism. The author says a "pos-
itive religious-national life is the
only assurance to a healthy and
everlasting Jewish existence and
that can be obtained only through
a thorough acquaintance with
Jewish religious-national liter-
ature."
