Best Wishes For A Happy New Year

GENEVA, (JTA)—The major-
ity report of the United Nations
Special Committee on Palestine
foresees that the Jewish state will
have an income, excluding cus-
toms, of 60 per cent of its ex-
penditures during the first year
of the two-year transition period,
while the Arab state's income
during the same period would
total only 16 per cent of its ex-.
penditures. However, the custom
duties would tend to wipe out
most of the deficit.
The anticipated revenue of the
Jewish state during the period
1947-48, not including income
from customs, would be about
$20,000,000, with expenditures of
some $34,000,000, leaving a deficit

NEW YORK—The Palestine
government denies that a ban
has been imposed upon the New
Palestine News Reporter, official
organ of the Zionist Organization
of America, as reported in a re-
cent issue of that publication.
"While this denial is gratify-
ing," declared the News Reporter,
"it does not explain why our
paper has not been reaching Pal-
estine subscribers and institutions
for the past four months. Our
subscribers there inform us that
the last issue of the New Pales-
tine News Reporter received by
them was dated April 14. Since
that time not a single issue has
reached them; apparently they
are being held up by the military
censor."
