The only other Jewish ball-
player in the big leagues this
past season was Sid Gordon with
the Giants. Sid plays a fair game
in left field and swings a rather
potent bat but normally he would
be gracing the bench. A pre-
season injury to rookie Whitey
Lockman gave Sid his big chance.
Even though he has belted the
ball consistently Gordon is slated
for part time duty if and when
Lockman recovers..
In the minors only Al Rosen of
Oklahoma City looms as big lea-
