the Detroit Jewish Community
through the Jewish Nevis:
. As governor of Michigan,
please accept my warmest good
wishes as the members of the
Jewish communities of our
state celebrate their New Year.

symbolized a rededication to
God, whom we all worship,
and a hoPe for better days
ahead.
It is my earnest hope that
the year 5708 may bring you
and the suffering members of
your people abroad greater

Our Letter Box
Women Urged to Form
Army In Liberty Fight
Editor, The Jewish News:
In this crucial period, when
Jews are persecuted and annihila-
ted in gas-chambers and concen-
tration camps; when inhuman
Briton kill brave Jewish youth
fighting for the freedom of Eretz
Israel, we women are compelled
to join this titantic struggle.
In the spirit of Deborah, we
must enter the Zionist Army and
fight until we reach our destina-
tion. The time has come to real-
ize the necessity of a country for
our people.
But in order to achieve this
goal, we have to work as a uni-
fied group. We need a big volun-
teer army of American women to
fulfill the task made more criti-
cal by the wiping out of Jewish
communities in Europe and in
other areas. Alike the Jewish
women of ancient times, the
Jewish woman today is duty
bound to help fight for the re-
demption of our country and the
survival of our struggling people.

Jewish Publication Society
Thanks for Co-Operation
Editor. The Jewish News:
As the year 5757 comes to a
close, it is my privilege to extend
to you and to the Jewfth press
the Jewish Publication Society's
heartiest thanks for the splendid
cooperation you extended to us.
For 59 years, our society has en-
joyed the best of public relations
with the Jewish press and it is
their cooperation which has been
responsible in part for our healthy
growth.
The stories about our society
which you have carried in your
columns have brought Jewish
literature to an ever enlarging
group. This has resulted in in-
creased membership and our
sales multiplied manyfold.
For all you have done. we say
"thank you" and we look for-
ward to your continued coopera-
tion.
To the above, may I be privi-
leged to add my personal good
wishes for a happy and prosper-
ous new year.
Cordially yours,
