Women's Clubs Brother and Sister to be Principals

SISTERS OF ZION MI7-
RACHI will hold its first fall
meeting at 1 p. m. Wednesday,
Sept. 3, at RoSenberg's, in the
form of a luncheon and linen
shower to benefit 500 refugee
children. The public is invited
to attend. For information about
the shower call yrs. Isaac Rosen-

is planning a donor luncheon,
scheduled for Nov. 5 at Shaarey
Zedek. Mrs. Joseph Kunin is
chairman of the donor luncheon.

WINOKUR. POST, JWB, was
hostess at a hospital party given
at the Marine Veteran Hospital,
Aug. 25. Refreshments were
served, gild sketch artists from
the Meittz-inger Art School went
through the wards drawing the
patients. A magic show and
musical presentations completed
the program.

Mrs. Orkin to Address
Pioneer Women Sept. 3

Mrs. Alexander Orkin, regional
representative of the East Central
Region of Pioneer Women, will
be the guest speaker at a workers'
rally of the Pioneer Women Or-
ganization on Sept. 3 at the club
room, 11818 Dexter.
The Pioneer Women Organiza-
tion is conducting a membership
campaign in conjunction with the
national convention which will be
held at the Hotel Statler in St.
Louis from Oct. 23-27. The Detroit
goal is 300 new members.
The Pioneer Women also will
have a seminar under the leader-
ship of Prof. Lazarson at the
Farband Camp, Chelsea, Mich.,
on Sept. 26.

Temp le Israel Sisterhood's
"Treasured Recipes."

STUFFED SANDWICH LOAF
Slice off bottom of a narrow French
loaf and scoop out the inside of the
bread; leaving the crust intact. Stuff
the loaf firmly with any sandwich
mixture and replace bottom crust.
Wrap loaf in waxed paper and chill
for several hours. Slice and serve.

with a dessert luncheon meeting

at Bnai Moshe, Dexter and Law-

head cabbage (5 cups shredded)
c. boiling water
tbs. chicken fat
tbs. brown sugar
tbs. flour
c. water
is c. vinegar
1 small onion, sliced
Salt and pepper to taste
Cook cabbage uncovered in boiling
water seven minutes. Add brown
sugar and flour to chicken fat; blend.
Add cup water, vinegar and sea-
sonings; cook until thick, about five
minutes. Add onion and the cooked.
drained cabbage; heat through. Serves
four to six.

Richard Ellman Wins
Yale Award for Best
Doctoral Dissertation

Richard David Eliman, son of
Mr. and Mrs. James I. Ellmann
of 55 Connecticut Ave., has re-_
turned from Dublin, Ireland,
where he spent the last 14 months
writing a biography of the Irish
poet, William Butler Yeats.
For this work he received the
degree of Bachelor in Letters
from Trinity College in Dublin
and his doctorate from Yale Uni-
versity. Yale also 2warded him
the John Addison Porter prize
for the best doctoral dissertation
of the year. Dr. Ellman will
remain at home until late in
September, when he will leave for
Cambridge, Mass. to teach in the
English department at Harvard
University.
