JERUSALEM, (JTA)—A manifesto calling upon the Jews of Palestine "to isolate" the
extremist groups was issued here jointly by all labor organizations in the country, follow-
ing proclamation by the Jewish National Asserribly of a, three-hour general strike in pro-
test against the mass arrests of three Jewish mayors and a number of leaders of the Zion-
ist-Revisionist Party and groups.
S E E L I S BERG, Switzerland,
(JTA)—Resolutions calling for
changing some Christian teach-
ings as a means of fighting anti-
Semitism anti urging a "righteous
solution of the Palestine problem,
were adopted here by 65 church-
men, lay leaders and educators
attending the International Emer-
gency Conference to combat anti-
Semitism.
The delegates, representing
Catholics, Protestants and Jews
in 17 countries, ended their week-
long parley with a proposal to
religious leaders to revise such
teachings as the story of the
Crucifixion, in order to eliminate
religious bias. Jewish delegates
stressed that they would seek
to eliminate attacks on Jesus
from Jewish instruction and to
promote good relations between
Christians and Jews.
The conference also condemned
acts of extremism in Palestine as
contrary to the spirit of religion.
Earlier, seventeen reports sub-
mitted 'to the conference reveal
that anti-Semitism is either in-
creasing or is strongly in evi-
dence, particularly in Austria and
Hungary.
Chief Rabbi Alexander Shaf-
ran of Bucharest delivered an
encouraging report on Romania,
where, he said, conditions with
regard to combatting anti-Sem-
itism are satisfactory. On " the
other hand, Dr. Sterling Brown,
advisor to the U. S. Army on re-
ligious affairs in Europe, said that
anti-Semitism is widespread in
Germany and that anti-Jewish
tendencies are noticeable among
American occupation troops.
