volume — Isaac Breuer's "The
Problem of the Jew."
Mr. Breuer, who died in Jeru-
salem in August, 1946, deals with

NEW YORK.—Dr. Israel Gold-
stein of New York, a national
chairman of the $170,000,000 Uni-
ted Jewish Appeal for Refugees,
Overseas Needs and Palestine,
and national chairman of the Uni-
ted Palestine Appeal left for an
intensive study of the refugee
settlement program in Palestine
and of the progress that has been
made in the absorptiOn of the 40,-
000 homeless Jews who have
come to the country since the end
of the war.
He will also survey the pressing
relief needs of the homeless Jews
in Europe, stemming from the
recent drastic curtailment of in-
ter-governmental relief programs.
During his trip abroad, Dr.
Goldstein will confer with offi-
cials of the Jewish Agency for
Palestine and will attend a spe-
cial meeting of the Zionist Actions
Committee which will be held in
Zurich, Switzerland,, late in
August.

established Paris office of the
AJC and to advise European
Jewish communists in matters

John Slawson, executive vice-
