At the annual election meeting
of Young Israel on June 11,
Charles T. Gellman was re-elect-
ed president for a sixth term.
Others re-elected are: Samuel W.
Platt, chairman' of the board;
Ruth Bodzin, secretary, and Sol-

Yeshivath Beth Yehudah will have its first public graduation at

8:15 p.m. next Tuesday, in the Yeshivah Building. The following stu-
dents have completed their intermediate secular program of studies
(left to right in the photograph): Melvin Rosenfeld, Charles Levi,
Martin Weinstock and Sheldon Sherman. These graduates are pupils
of the two highest Hebrew classes studying the Talmud and- com-
mentaries.
The program will start with Maariv services, chanted by Cantor
Hyman Schulsinger, of Cong. Beth Tefilo Emanuel. Martin Weinstock
will give a talk in English and Charles Levi will deliver a Talmudical
discourse. Diplomas will be presented by Dr. Hugo Mandelbaum,
_principal of the Beth Yehudah Day School. Parents of all pupils
attending the Yeshivah, and the public at large, are invited.
The first Board of Directors meeting for the new fiscal year of
+1-:e Yeshivah will follow at 9:15 p.m. Eighteen new members elected
June 4, will be welcomed by the board, and officers will be chosen.

Highlighted by the presidential
race between Samuel M. Bez, in-
cumbent, and Malcolm L. Rivkin,
former vice-president, the Men's
Club of the Northwest Hebrew
Congregation and Center will
stage its annual election at 8:30
p.m.. Monday, at the Social Hall
at Curtis and Santa Rosa.
Four candidates have been
nominated for the vice-presiden-
cy: Alfred L. Brook, Dr. Jack
Chapman, J. Maurice Karo and
David J. Miller, principal of the
congregation's Sunday school.

Rabbi Bunim - Schekatz, over-
seas representative of the Dis-
kin Orphanage of Jerusalem, ar-
rived in Detroit last week to con-
tact the supporters of this agency.

Describing the Diskin Orphan-
age as the largest Jewish orphan

home in the world, Rabbi Sche-
katz stated the institution has
70 rooms, with 10 or 12 beds in
each; a garden worked by the
children, an eight-grade school

ult education program, youth ac-
tivities, synagogue services,
Young Israel concert, monthly

ganization's social activity.

MONTREAL—The 58th annual
convention of the Central Confer-
ence of American Rabbis, which
will meet here for the second time
in its history, will open 'next
Tuesday evening with the presi-
dential address of Dr. Abba Hillel
Silver of Cleveland. Four hundred
