GENEVA—Bronislaw Huber-
man, internationally known vio-
linist and founder of the Palestine
Symphony Orchestra, died at his
*home at Nant Sur Corsi•r, Switz-
erland, at the age of 64.
Born in Poland in 1882, Hu-
berman studied in Berlin and
Warsaw. After World War I, he
achieved great popularity on
tours through Britain and the
United States. He refused to play
in Germany after 1933 because of
Nazi anti-Semitism.
Detroiters heard Huberman at
a concert in November, 1942,
sponsored by the Jewish National
Workers' Alliance. During his
visit here he was honored by
Detroit Zionists and labor groups
at several luncheons and recep-
tions.
Huberman had completed a
concert tour of Italy shortly be-
fore his death.
