Lillian Fuller, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. T. Fuller of Sttirtevant
Ave., is home on her summer vacation from the University of Miami
at Coral Gables, Fla.
Mr .and Mrs. Ben Schneider of 2996 Richton celebrated their
25th wedding anniversary with a party June 1 at BelhAire Catering.
Out-of-town guests from New York City, Chicago, and Steger, Ill.,
attended.
Mr. and Mrs. Solomon Sleeper were honored June 9 at a surprise
party on the occasion of their 25th wedding anniversary, given by
their children, Florence Sleeper and Mr. and Mrs. Milford Mol-
odofsky.
Before her forthcoming marriage to Milton, Ronald Mink- in,
which is to take place June 15, at the Book-Cadillac Hotel, Corrine
Wilhelm was entertained by Mrs. Anna Horwich and Mrs. Max
Wilhelm at the Book-Cadillac Hotel; by Mrs. Morris Moss at Huy-
ler's; by Mrs. Harry Stone and Mrs. Leonard Moss at the Book-
Cadillac Hotel; by Mrs. Samuel Salk at a luncheon at the Book-
Cadillac; by Charlotte Minkin at the Wilshire Hotel; by Florence
Grossman at a luncheon at the Statler Hotel, and by Elaine Levin,
at a luncheon at her home.
Mr. and Mrs. Sol Jacobson of Elmhurst Ave. have returned
from Madison, Wise., where they attended the graduation exercises
at which their daughter, Shirley Beatrice, received the Bachelor of
Arts degree from tie University of Wisconsin School of Journalism.
Rhodine Ungar, daughter of Rabbi and Mrs. J. Ungar, is making
her home with her parents in St. Paul, Minn. A graduate of Wayne
University and the United Hebrew Schools, Miss Ungar has accepted
a position with the Hebrew Seminary of St. Paul.
Mrs. Harry C. Singer entertained a group of friends at a lunch-
eon June 7, honoring Mrs. Charles Solovich on her election as hon-
orary president of the Great DetrOit Bnai Brith Women's Council.
Mr. and Mrs. Harry Yanich of 2319 Leslie, and son, Joseph,
were in Cincinnati during the Memorial Day week-end to attend
the ordination of their son-in-law, Walter H. Plaut, at Hebrew Union
College. Also attending his ordination were Mr. and Mrs. Walter
Rabinowitz of Tuxedo Ave., Mr. and Mrs. Jonas Plaut of Toledo,
and Rabbi W. Gunther Plaut of Chicago.
Before her marriage to Lawrence Rudin June 1, Edith Press
was entertained at a linen shower May 14 at the Book-Cadillac,
given by Mrs. Morris Gurvitch; a linen and personal shower May 28
at Huyler's, given by Mrs. Rudy LoPatin of Pontiac, and a dinner
given May 28 by Mrs. Jim Rosen.
Dr. and Mrs. Albert E. Bernstein of 2400 W. Boston Blvd. are
leaving for a week's vacation in New York and Atlantic City where
they will attend the American Medical convention.
Pearl Price, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Meyer Price, formerly of
Webb Ave., is returning to Detroit from Los Angeles, where she is
a student at the University of Southern Calfornia. Bea Wasserman
of Los Angeles, will be her guest for the summer.
Mr. and Mrs. Martin L. Friedman of 17566 Parkside will have
open house from 3 to 5 p. m. Sunday, June 15, in honor of their
brother and sister-in-law, Dr. and Mrs. Hillard W. Goldstick.
Mr. and Mrs. David Segal of Greenlawn Ave. entertained 18
guests June 7 at the Rackham Building in honor of the 16th birth-
day of their daughter, Myrna Esther.
Mr. and Mrs. Herbert H. Warner have left for a visit in French
Lick Springs, Ind.
Mr. and Mrs. Calvin Prady celebrated their 20th wedding anni-
versary June 8 with a dinner and theater party.
Mrs. Max Atlass of Decatur, Ill., is the house guest of Mr. and
Mrs. Benjamin Goldstein of LaSalle Blvd.
Mr. and Mrs. Max Fertel have left for an extended motor trip
to California, where they will attend the graduation exercises of
their daughter, Shirley, from U.C.L.A.
Mr. and Mrs. Louis Weiner of 1559 W. Philadelphia will cele-
brate their-751h wedding anniversary at ari open house Sunday,

Mr. and Mrs. Harry Yanich of 2319 Leslie, will be at home from
7 to 10 p.m. Sunday, June 15, in honor of the ordination of their
son-in-law, Rabbi Walter H. Plaut. Rabbi Plaut was ordained at

Mr. and Mrs. Morris Pushkin of 3360 Pasadena will be at
home to their relatives and friends from 4 to 9 p. m. ,Sunday, June
22, honoring their daughter Jacqueline, on her graduation from

Mrs. Charles Hamburger was hostess at a triple family cele-
bration May 31 at Franklin Hills Country Club. The dinner party
honored Mr. and Mrs. Abraham Cooper upon their 30th wedding
anniversary, Harriet Cooper and Dr. Elliot Bryce Alpern, whose
marriage took place June 7, and Jay Richard Cooper and his
fiancee, Barbara Blumrosen.

Win National Trophy
For Tree-Planting Effort
Little Women of Hadassah of
Detroit were awarded a trophy,
at the seminar of national Young
Judaea leaders and seniors held
last week-end at Spring Valley,
N. Y., in recognition of the group's
outstanding work among youth
groups in the country in planting
trees in Palestine.
Moshe Heyman, one of the De-
troit Young Judaea leaders, rep-
resented this community at the
seminar sessions. •
The conference, held under aus-
pices of the National Youth Com-
mission of the Zionist Organiza-
tion of America, reaffirmed sup-
port of the General Zionist pro-
gram.
Youngest Ph. D. At Yale
is "Sabra" (Palestinian)
NEW HAVEN, Conn. (JPS)—
Eli Karlin, 19 year old Haifa
born Jewish youth, will receive
his Ph.D. at commencement ex-
ercises at Yale University on
June 18. He is one of the
youngest, if not the
youngest
student to receive a doctorate of
philosophy here. Karlin will be
20 next October.

Registration is in full swing at
the Jewish Community Center
for its summer day camp, Camp
Habonim.
The camp program employs
progressive techniques designed
to give children enriching social,
educational, cultural and recrea-
tional experiences. The camp
will be supervised by a compet-
ent staff carefully selected for
ski/1 and previous experience,
under the direction of Samuel
Milan.
The fee is $7.50 per week. As
in previous years, registrations
are being accepted for one, two,
three or all four of the two week
Progressive Zionist League
(Hashomer Hatzair) is complet1
ing basic organizational_v.-ork in
Detroit. This organization. is corn•
posed of adult Zionists who sub-
scribe to the political program of
Hashomer Hatzair. Six similar
groups, now operating in various
parts of the U. S., will affiliate
with the World Union of Hash-
omer Hatzair after a national
convention.

J. Richie of Princeton Ave. an-
nounced the engagement of their
daughter, Shirley Jean, to Berol
Lee Robinson, son of Mr. and

Miss Richie is a graduate of
Wayne University, where she was
affiliated with Sigma Theta
Delta sorority and Gold Key
honor society. Her fiance is com-
pleting his senior year at Harvard
University. He served as a lieu-
tenant in the U. S. Army Air
Corps. Prior to that he was a
student at Wayne University,
where he was a member of
Gamma Kappa Chi fraternity.
A reception is being held Sun-
day evening, June 15, at the
home of Mr. and Mrs. Robinson,
to honor the consecration of their
daughter, Davida, and the en-
gagement of their son to Miss

Commencement Exercises
For Leadership Seminar
At the Center, June 22
The Leadership Training Sem-
mar, sponsored by the Jewish
Community Center recently, to
train leadership for Yiddish
speaking organizations, will hold
its commencement exercises at
the Center, on Sunday evening,
The Seminar attracted a wide
cross-section of representatives
from 24 Jewish organizations-
Landsmanschaften groups, Sho-
lem Aleichem Institute, National
Jewish Workers Alliance Branch-
es, Mothers' Clubs, Workmen's
Circle and Jewish Peoples Fra-
ternal Order. Sixty men and
women attended the six sessions
of the Semiar which were
neaded by I. Zemel, J. Gold-
oftas, Harry D. Katz, Harold
Silver, Rabbi Max J. Wohlgelern-
ter, Charles Driker, Harry Kam-
iner and Moishe Haar.
On June 22, students of the
Seminar, their friends and in-
structors are invited to celebrate
the completion of the Seminar.
In addition to talks by rep-
resentatives of organizations on
the significance of the Leader-
ship Seminar, Isidore Sobeloff,
main speaker of the- evening, will
evaluate the implications of this
type of educational work among
Jewish organizations. Henri Gold-
berg will direct the Jewish Folk
Chorus in appropriate selec-
tions of Yiddish folk songs. Re-
freshments will be served. Ad-
mission is free.

to July 11; Period II, July 14
to 15; Period III, July 28 to Aug.
8; Period IV, Aug. 14 to 22.
