I ACTIVITIES IN SOCIETY

Mr. and Mrs. James Rachleff entertained the following out-of-
town guests in honor of the Bar Mitzvah of their son, Marshall Fenton
Rachleff: Mrs. Eva Rachleff and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. L. Rachleff
and son, and Mr. and Mrs. Harry Rachleff of Springfield, Mass., Mr.
and Mrs. S. Krupnikoff and Louis Borden of Hartford, Conn.; Mr.
and Mrs. H. Katz, Mr. and Mrs. J. Reimer and daughter, Ed Sorkin
and Mr. and Mrs. L. Cohen of Chicago, and Mr. and Mrs. S. Slovin
and Mr. and Mrs. N. Slovin and son of Wilmington, Del., and
Farmingdale, L. I. The Bar Mitzvah dinner was held May 18 at the
Workmen's Circle.
Mr. and Mrs. David Rott announce the Confirmation of their
daughter Hilary Honore, on May 25, at Temple Beth Sholom, Miami
Beach, Fla. A reception for relatives and friends will be held in
Detroit, in the Grand Ballroom of the Book Cadillac Hotel, on Thurs-
day evening, June 12, from 9 to 12. No cards.
Miss Celia Stukin of Sturtevant Ave. returned from her vaca-
tion in Hot Spring, Ark.
The Mark Coopers of Webb Ave. left for LcA Angeles, Calif.,
to visit with their daughter, Rita Cooper, who now is associated with
the MGM Studio, and with their other. relatives there.
Mrs. Harry Greer and daughter Arlene of Miami Beach, for-
merly of Detroit, are spending a two-month vacation with her par-
ents, Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Gornbein of Glendale Ave. Mr. Greer
will join them shortly.
Ellen Harris, bride-elect of June 22, was honored at a luncheon
May 24 at the Book-Cadillac, given by Marilyn Rist, Norma Jaslove,
Eleanor Yarrows and Arleen Barnett.
Bertha Robinson, bride-elect of June 15, was feted by Mrs.
Alan Nathan and Mrs. Maynard Feldman at a miscellaneous shower
at Frame's.
Miss Edith Press, bride-elect, was honored at a linen shower
by her aunt, Mrs. Morris Gurevitch, in the English Room of the
Book Cadillac Hotel, on May 14.
Mr. and Mrs. William Nadler *ere in Atlantic City last -week,
attending the national convention of the Shriners.
Mr. and Mrs. Henry H. Shapero spent the holiday week-end in
New Castle and Beaver Falls, Pa.
Mrs. N. Blatnikoff and son, Basil, haVe left for a month's vaca-
tion in California, where they will meet their daughter and sister,
Selma Blatnikoff, who is returning from Hawaii on a leave of ab-
sence and will return to Detroit with them.
Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Silverman of 3331 Kendall are entertain-
ing their daughter Mrs. Joseph C. Ash (Lee Silverman) of Los
Angeles who, with her daughter Terree Elaine and her son, Hiram
Lawrence, is visiting here for two months, during which she will
attend the wedding of her brother, Milton, to Tillie Ruzumna on
June 22.
Mr. and Mrs. Meyer B. Levens of Elmhurst Ave. are spending
several weeks in Los Angeles, visiting with their children, Mr. and
Mrs. Herbert S. Goldstein.
Caroline Friendship Club honored their founder members, Mr.
and Mrs. Nathan Fridson of Tuxedo Ave., at a silver wedding anni-
versary on May 31, at Moss, with a dinner for 150 guests and rela-
tives. Albert Klavons was toastmaster. Dancing climaxed the
evening's festivity.
Mrs. Fred M. Barbas and Mr. and Mrs. M. I. Kronick and son,
Kenneth Alan, of Los Angeles, are visiting with their parents, Mr.
and Mrs. I. Kuper of Glendale Ave.
Rosalyn Ann Eisenman of 2919 Glynn Ct. entertained 20 girls
at her home Tuesday evening honoring four brides-elect, Shirley
Feurring, Leatrice Singer, Bernice Adler and Jane Weindling. A
buffet dinner was served.
Mr. and Mrs. Jack B. Mickel of 4210 Tyler will have open
house honoring Mr. and Mrs. Ben Krasno of Phoenix, Ariz., on their
recent marriage, from 4 p. m. Sunday, June 8. No cards.
A group of friends gathered at the Club Bali, May 29, to cele-
brate the home-coming of Sy Abramson from the Marine Corps.
