regularly were shown to be more prejudiced
than those who attended irregularly."

On the basis of these shocking revelations,
AMG's announcement that it was planning
"a positive and well directed effort to teach
racial tolerance in German schools" proves
ineffective in removing the fears that Ger-
many not only remains violently anti-Semitic
but that the remaining Jews in Germany have
little chance of survival there.
The AMG report serves also to undermine
some of the faith we have hitherto had in the
possibilities of an emergency of decency from
the religiously-minded people.
In effect, the survey conducted among the
Germans acted as an admonition to Jews
everywhere to view seriously the sentiments
of surviving European Jews who refuse to
remain in the lands which have witnessed the
exterr • .ation of more than 6,000,000 of their
kinsmen, and who insist upon going to a land
they can call HOME.
It is the height of folly to ask the remnant
of surviving Jews either to remain in the
places of their birth or to return to the coun-
tries of their origin. It is futile to ask human
beings to remain in these slaughterhouses.
Unfortunately, the Germans are not alone
in their hatred of the Jews. The world that
has ended Nazi rule has become calloused
and refuses to enforce atonement for the
'crimes committed against our people. In a
decent world, the surviving Jews would have
been transported to their Homeland imme-
diately after V-E Day. But in an indecent
world we are compelled to carry on the battle
for the fulfillment of Jewish aspirations in
Ezetz Israel against all odds. This is the
answer the Germany survey already has
received from the Jews who unhappily are
referred to as "displaced." Their battlecry is
beingtaken up by Jews everywhere. The
battle goes on-until the eyes of humanity
are opened to the crimes that are being per-
petuated by the survival of anti-Semitism
and the continuation of Jewish homelessness.

Is Our Community Drive Failing?

Another week has passed, and we are still far from the
$5,335,000 goal accepted for the 1947 Allied Jewish Campaign.
An analysis of the campaign's progress has convinced

the community's leaders that the objective can be attained
and that we are far from failure-provided all of the prospects
can be reached.
It is true that a great many among the thousands of pros-
pective contributors represent donors in the very low brackets.
But there are very many men and women in good financial
circumstances who have not been reached by our solicitors
and who must be approached immediately if the drive is to
succeed.
Both the volunteer workers and those who have not as
yet made their contributions owe a great debt to themselves
and to our people: the former not to miss a single prospect;
the latter to all in their contributions to the campaign office
-TEmple 3-5250-without waiting to be asked to give to the
sacred causes which are our collective responsibility.

to enforce peace with justice in Palestine. The UN must

prove that it is able to act objectively, in accordance with the
principles enunciated since World War I, that no people is to
be condemned to homelessness and to a status of pariahs. The
'peoples of the earth have an opportunity to indicate that they
can back up the accepted ideals of historic justice which al-
ways have linked Israel with Eretz Israel and that they will
refuse to yield to threats emanating from groups that have be-
come known as fomenters of strife rather than creators of
good will and righteousness.
The UN General Assembly which has just ended was
marked by many unpleasantnesses. We are not frightened by
the indecencies accompanying the introduction by a spokes-
man for the Arab Higher Committee of the crucifixion myth
in relation to the ex-Mufti. On the contrary, we believe that
the resentment that has been expressed against such tactics
will boomerang against the Arabs. But this incident was in-
dicative of an attitude which reflected bad feelings and poor
manners in some quarters.
Nevertheless, we refuse to prejudge the issues and the
results. We are confident that spokesmen for our people will
make a good case for our cause in Palestine and we hold fast
faith that we shall win our battle for justice in the end.

among the contributors to this volume. Among
them are, in addition to the editors: G. Luft, Moshe
Arnelansky, D. W. Senator, N. Hofshi, ,R. Koebner,
M. Avi-Shaul and others. '
The presentations given in this volume include
the most complete analysis of the Magnes-Buber-
et-al viewpoints and no Zionist who desires to be
fully infornied on the Palestinian situation can af-
ford to miss reading them.
All the participants in this volume are devout
Zionists who desire to see the realization of the
Zionist ideal, but all of them strive for maximum
cooperation with the Arabs on a bi-national basis
as an inevitable need in Jewish redemption work
in Eretz Israel. -
In view of the sensational statements made at
the UN General Assembly by Andrei Gromyko, and
because of the strong endorsement given his plea
for a bi-national Arab-Jewish state by Hashomer
Hatzair, the Mud program as outlined in the
book under review assumes added importance at
