Mrs. Caroline,E. Faught of New York is the guest -of-her mother,
Mrs. David Epstein of Longwood Ave.
-Mary Frieda Einstein, granddaughter of Dr. and Mrs. Leo M.
Franklin of Edison Ave. who is in her junior year in high school
in Pittsburgia-bas- been elected to a National Honor Society. She
will be confirmed this Sunday at Temple Rodeph Sholom, Pittsburgh.
Mr. and Mrs. L Rodman Myers have moved from Longfellow
Ave. and are at present residing at 11534 Byron.
Mr. and Mrs. Milton Strauss of the Chatham Apt have as their
guest, Mrs. Strauss' sister, Mrs. David Bendier of New York.
Mrs. Herman Finsterwald of Longfellow Ave. has returned
from Memphis, where she spent the winter with her son-in-law and
daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Dreifus.
Mr. and Mrs. William Fleischman of Whitmore Rd. have as their
guest Mrs. Fleischman's mother, Mrs. M. M. Goldrich of Cleveland.
Mr. and Mrs. Harry Sacks of Dexter Blvd. are spending the
week in Chicago.
Mrs. Max Pressler of Buffalo was the guest last week of her
brother-in-law and sister, Mr. and Mrs. Ben Kramer of Whitmore Rd.
Mrs. -Samuel Hartman of Shrewsbury Rd. left Monday to spend
the week in Cleveland visiting with members of her family.
Mrs. Ralph Schiller of Chicago Blvd. is spending a:fortnight in
Atlantic City.
Mrs. Milford Stern of the Belcrest and Mrs. Jack Davis of
Whitmore Rd. have returned from Martinsville, Ind.
Mr. and Mrs. Benjamin Shwayder of Fairfield Ave. have returned
from a few weeks in Miami Beach.
Miss Harriet Simons of the Wilshire had as her guests last
week-end, Mrs. Sigmund Brachman and Mrs. Eugene L. Eisen of
Milwaukee.
Mrs. Louis Smilansky of Burns Ave. has returned from Vir-
ginia Beach, Va., where she was the guest of her brother-in-law and
sister, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Margolius. En route home she spent
a few days in New York.
Mr. and Mrs. Alan J. Grossman have moved from Wisconsin
Ave. and are now residing at 18045 Fairfield Ave.
Mr. and Mrs. Harry L. Jones of Muirland Ave. had as their
guests last week on the occasion of the Bar Mitzvah of their son,
Richard Alan, Dr. and Mrs. Irving Press and their son, Michael, of
Long Island; Mrs. - Ernestine Miller of Los Angeles, Cal. and Mr.
and Mrs. Abraham Rothman of New York.
MrS. Samuel Schwartz- of Los Angeles visited with relatives
and friends in Detroit this week enroute to Cleveland.
Lt. Arthur Miller, who had been stationed in New York, visited
with his family this week before going to his new post in San Fran-
cisco.
Max and Louis Manko of New York spent the week-end as the
guest of their mother, Mrs. Freimark Manko of Sturtevant Ave., on
the occasion of her 80th birthday.

Halevy Creates AnnualMusic
Awards in M. Levy's Memory

Detroit Halevy Singing Soci-
ety's banquet next Tuesday eve-
ning. at Congregation Bnai Dav-
id, 14th and Elmhurst, will be
utilized for two purposes:
To honor three couples who
have been active in the organi-
zation and in musical circles in
Detroit—Mr. and Mrs. Daniel
Frohman,, Mr. and Mrs. David
Goldberg and Mr. and Mrs. Mor-
tis Scheyer; and
To establish the annual Max
Levy Memorial Award - for Out-
standing Achievement in Jewish
Music.
Dr. William Klein, president
of the society, this week an-
nounced the appointment of Can-
tor Robert Tillman, Dr. Ezra Lip-
kin and Mrs. A. R. Brasch as
judges who will make the selec-
tion for the first Max Levy

Award to be announced at the
banquet.
Dr. David B. Gaberman will
be toastmaster at the banquet at
which Dr. Klein will make im-
portant announcement regarding
the awards, Cantor Tillman will
sing and there will be violin se-
lections by Sadie Cooper Braver.
Presentations of gold pins will be
made to the three couples to be
honored.
Max Levy, eminent Detroit
musician in tribute to whose
memory the awards are being es-
tablished, has been teaching mu-
sic here for the last 20 years. He
had studied in Europe before es-
tablishing his studio in Detroit.
