Attractive Bride

ACTIVITIES IN SOCIETY

Dorothy Shapiro was honored at a luncheon and miscellaneous
shower given by Mrs. William Shulak and Mrs. Murray Shapiro
Saturday, April 19, at the Lee Plaza Hotel.
Iota Alpha Pi sorority honored their pledge members and their
dates at a party May 3 at Wayne Hillel House.
Delta Omega Iota Sorority was hostess at a kitchen shower
April 29 in honor of Belle Josselson at the home of Mildred Label,
2984 Rochester. Miss Josselson will be married to Ruben Steier
of New York at the Belcrest Hotel on Monday, May 19.
Mr. and Mrs. Ray S. Tisdale of 3709 Richton honored the 16th
birthday of their daughter, Joanne, with a party for relatives and
friends.
Chi Epsilon sorority gave a dance Saturday, May 3, at the
Park Ave. Hotel.
Mr. and Mrs. Sam Mann and son, Donald, and Mrs. Leo Magid,
have returned from an extended visit to Tucson, Ariz., and Los
Angeles.
Belle Moskowitz of Blaine Ave. has returned from Chicago where
she attended the Tri-State Hospital Convention held at the Palmer
House
Mr. and Mrs. Herman H. Stark of 8531 LaSalle Blvd., have as
their guest their cousin, Mrs. Emmy Loewenberge of San Francisco.
She is visiting her 81-year-old aunt, Mrs. Hannchen Rosenfelder,
who arrived in this country four weeks ago from Italy.
Prof. Saul Adler, newly-appointed dean of the Hadassah Medical
School in Palestine, will be the guest of his cousins, Rabbi and Mrs.
Morris Adler, during a speaking tour in Detroit.
Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Hartman of 2485 Chicago Blvd, announce
the approaching marriage of their daughter, Jane, to Herbert G.
Blumberg, son of Mrs. Oscar R. Blumberg of Glynn Ct. and the late
Mr. Blumberg, on Sunday evening, May 18. They will be at home to
their friends from 9 to 11. No cards.
Mr. and Mrs. Melville S. Welt of Balmoral Dr. spent the last week
in New York.
Mrs. David J. Levy of Boston Blvd. returned Wednesday from
a visit in St. Louis.
Walter Laib of the Statler Hotel accompanied by his daughter,
Janet. of New York, left for a month in California.
Mrs. John A. Heavenrich of Longfellow Ave. has left to spend a
week with her sister, Mrs. Louis Jacob of Woodmere, L. I. Before
returning home she will stop at Poughkeepsie, N. Y., for a few days
to attend the Vassar College reunion.
Mrs. Joseph Ullman and Mrs. P. E. Phillips of Cincinnati are
the week-end guests of Mrs. Ullman's mother, Mrs. A. M. Ermann of
Merton Rd.
Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Sampliner of the Belcrest have returned
from a visit in New Orleans.
Mrs. Harold Desenberg and her son, Jon, have returned from
Miami Beach.
Mr. and Mrs. Ivor Kahn of Chicago Blvd. left Tuesday for a
short stay in New York.
Edwin Freund has returned to his home in Los Angeles, follow-
ing a short visit with his father and his brother-in-law and sister,
Mr. and Mrs. Louis Cohane, of Highland Ave.
Mrs. A. Anthony Fromm of Huntington Woods has returned
from a cruise to California via the Panama Canal.
Mr. and Mrs. David Diamond of Longfellow Ave. have returned
from a stay in Hot Springs. Ark.
Joyce Janeway, a student at Vassar College, is spending her
vacation with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Janeway of Canter-
bury Rd.
Dr. Michael Evanari, Professor of Botany at the Hebrew Uni-
versity
versity in Jerusalem, who is in this country on a lecture tour, spent
a few days in Detroit visiting with relatives. He was the house guest
of Mr. and Mrs. Max Schiffer of Ferndale.
Mrs. Jack Uhr of New Brunswick, N. J., was the guest of her
sister, Mrs. Ralph Davidson of Boston Blvd.
Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Ivan Frankel of Muirland Ave. spent the
last week-end in Toronto visiting with members of their family.
Miss Lena Solomon of Atkinson Ave. and her sister Mrs. Saul
Jackson of Crosswell, Mich., spent the last week visiting in New York
and Washington, D. C.
Mr. -and-Mrs. Samuel Helper and their-son, Ralph, of Atkinson
Ave. spent the last week-end in Evansville, Ind., where they visited
Mr. and Mrs. Morton Helper.
Mrs. Malka Gage of the Belcrest had as her guest last week-end
her sister, Mrs. Emil Topkis, of Wilmington, Del.
Mr. and Mrs. Jules Klein of Calvert Ave. have returned from
New York where they visited their son-in-law and daughter.
Mrs. Harry S. Stamler of Muirland Ave. has returned from
Tucson, Ariz., where she spent the winter.
Mrs. Simon Weisman of Leslie Ave. has returned from Cham-
paign, Ill., where she visited her daughter, Elaine, who is a student
at the University of Illinois.
