Community Ready for Allied Drive Opening. May 6

The Allied Jewish Campaign Lawyers' Division was mobi-
lized for action in the $5,335,000 drive for survival and
reconstruction, at a meeting at the Book Cadillac Hotel on

Synagogues Aid UJA Drive
At Services on Saturday

In accord with a proclamation by the . Synagogue
Council of America, synagogues throughout Detroit will
join in observing Saturday, May 3, as United Jewish
Appeal Sabbath, to focus the attention of Detroit Jewry
on the extraordinary needs of the United Jewish Appeal.
The UJA receives its support locally through the
Allied Jewish Campaign, which will open here Tuesday.
Detroit's participation in the special Sabbath services
was announced by Fred M. Butzel, Allied Jewish Cam-
paign chairman, who urged American Jews to fulfill
their extraordinary responsibilities to their fellow Jews
in Europe.
On May 3, members of congregations will hear
sermons devoted to the plight of the Jews of Europe,
and to the hope embodied in the United Jewish Appeal.
