Mrs. Landau and Daughter
Spur Campaign Workers
Volunteer workers for the Al- I
lied Jewish Campaign have been
stimulated to greater efforts by
the example of a mother and
daughter team, Mrs. Maurice A.
Landau and her daughter. Carol,
who have been active since early
fall in the pre-campaign planning
for the Women's and Junior Di-
vision drives.
Mrs. Landau was nominated
Volunteer of the Week on Fran
Harris' "Red Feather Review"
over WW:f;--April 23, for her com-
munity service, including the
chairmanship of general solicita-
tion for the Women's Division of
the campaign.
In addition to her work in be-
half of the current drive, Mrs.
Landau is a member of the Jew-
ish Welfare Federation Board,
chairman of the Jewish Center
Committee for Military Hospital
Needs, and co-chairman of Area
13, Metropolitan Unit in the Com-
munity Chest Red Feather Cam-
paign. She is also a member of
the Governing Board of the Com-
munity Chest Women's Commit-
tee and a past president of Hadas-
sa h.
cedures, and delegates work to
the volunteer day staff. In addi-
tion she is a captain in the Junior

special solicitation section.
Recruited 1,400 Workers
Graduate of Illinois
As chairman of the General
Solicitation section of the Wom-
en's Division, Mrs. Landau has
given unstintingly of her time to
recruit 1,400 workers and assign
to them 14,000 names of prospec-
tive contributors.
In a year when every pros-
pective contributor must be
reached to raise the $5,335,000
needed for overseas, national and
local causes by the 54 agencies
which receive funds from the De-
troit campaign, Mrs. Landau has
drawn on her vast knowledge of
the community to add new names
to the list and weed out dupli-
cates and obsolete information. '
Carol received her B.A. in June
of 1946 from the University of
Illinois where she was a member
of Alpha Epsilon Phi sorority,
active in the Pan Hellenic Execu-
tive Council, Convocation Com-
mittee, Union Board and Hillel
Foundation. Away from Detroit
since her •Central High School
days, upon her return she joined
the Junior Service Group and in
the early fall became active in
pre-campaign planning for the
Junior Division of the Allied
Jewish Campaign.
Interested in dramatics and
music, both modern and classical,
Carol finds time in her busy
schedule as a campaign worker
and popular member of the
younger crowd to take part in
the JSG players.
Rounding out the family's cam-
paign activities, Mr. Landau is a
member of the executive commit-
tee for the Dry Goods' section.
