First Hand Stories of Displaced Persons Plight
Spur Various Divisions in Allied Jewish Campaign

The Jewelers Division of ■ the Allied Jewish Campaign 'launched its activities at a
meeting on April 17 at the Book Cadillac Hotel. Left to right: SAMUEL GERSTEIN,

the guest speake`e; IRVING J. WOLFGANG, EMIL ROSE, FRED F. SIMMONS and

IRA A. HIRSCHMANN, who was President Roosevelt's personal representative in
refugee rescue activities in Europe during the war as chairman of the War Refugee
Board, addressed the Detroit Service Group at a public meeting at Hotel Tuller
on April 16, in behalf of the Allied Jewish Campaign. FRED M. BUTZEL (seated),

general chairman of the 1946 drive for a goal of $5,335,000, presided at the meeting.

QUENTIN REYNOLDS, eminent foreign correspondent, columnist and radio com-
mentator, stirred the Women's Division to action at the Allied Jewish Campaign
rally at Temple Beth El, on April 15, when general solicitations began among women
of Detroit. MRS. H. C. BRODER (left) (co-chairman of the women's Division with
Mrs. Henry Wineman), and MRS. LEONARD WEINER (right) were among the Division,
leaders on the speakers' platform.
