Oh, brother, what fools
nity!
some people can make of them-
selves! . . . Joyce Briskman is
one of the very few, if not the
only, girl to be elected president
of the 12-A Class at Central High.
.. . Rabbi Morris Adler is about
the only man who begged for
overseas duties because, as he
puts it, "I was a coward" . . .
Couldn't take it during operation
sessions in U. S. hospitals, where
the boys wanted him near. . . .
As big as he is, Rabbi Adler ad-
mits that the nurses spent more
time keeping him from passing
out than they did with the pa-
tients! . . . A certain man re-
cently paid $S00 cash to obtain
an apartment . . . No wonder it
is so hard for others! . The
person who pays to get an apart-
ment is guiltier than the one who
accepts it!

Solution
For Displaced Jews,

gen. McNarney Says

WASHINGTON, (JTA) — Gen.
McNarney, former commander of
American forces in Europe, said
displaced Jews in Germany can-
not be absorbed into the German
economy and their transfer to
Palestine is "the only solution."
At a press conference here fol-
lowing his arrival from Germany,
McNarney stated the influx of
Jewish refugees from Poland
ceased about mid - November.
Since December their departure
from Germany exceeded their en-
try. The decrease amounted to
2,500 persons, he estimated.
Estimating the number of Jews
in Romania as about 300,000 and
in Hungary as 180,000, he pre-
dicted if they start infiltrating
into the American zone, "it might
be necessary to close the border."
McNarney is now senior Amer-
ican officer attached to the Mili-
tary Staff Committee of the
United Nations.

of the Jewish Community Coun-

are exhibited everywhere and
about 5,00• pieces of literature
will be distributed. . . . But more
important than anything is the
cooperation of people living in
the area. . . . So long as they
