Community Leaders Join Installation
Of Rabbi Segal at N.W. Congregation

Rabbis and community leaders
joined 500 members of Northwest
Hebrew Congregation and Center
in welcoming to Detroit Rabbi
Jacob E. Segal, at the installation
dinner held last Sunday evening
at the N. W. synagogue on Curtis
and Santa Rosa.
Christian groups functioning in
the neighborhood of the syna-
gogue sent messages of greetings
to the impressive event.
Aitiong the community leaders
present were Aaron Droock,
president of the Jewish Commun-
ity Council, and Harry Cohen,
president of Congregation
Shaarey :Zedek.
Dr. Max Arzt of the Jewish
Theological Seminary of New
York, who delivered the installa-
tion address, brought greetings
from Rabbi Segal's alma mater
and associates in the Seminary
and expressed confidence that the
congregation will rise to great
heights under the new Rabbi's
leadership.
In his response, Rabbi Segal
pledged his untiring devotions to
the synagogue and to all impor-
tant Community causes.
Rabbi Morris Adler, who intro-
duced Rabbi Arzt, praised the
N. W. congregation's leadership
and commended the synagogue
for the high level on which it is
conducting its progressive efforts.
Manny Lax presided at the in-
stallation program, and read
numerous messages of greetings.
Rabbi Eliezer A. Levi and Rabbi
Joshua S. Sperka gave the in-
vocation and benediction.
Greetings were delivered by
Ira G. Kaufman, president of the
congregation; Mrs. Max H. Gold-
smith, president of the Sister-
hood. and Samuel M. Bez, for the
Men's Club. A musical program
was provided by Cantor David
Katzman who was accompanied
by Mrs. Bella Goldberg.
Among the touching greetings
received at the gathering were
messages from Congregation Bnai
Zion of Chicago, whose pulpit

Prepare for Passover, Four Spe-
cial Sabbaths Preceding Pass-
over, Practices Observed Erev
Pesach, and How the Seder Table
Is Arranged.
