ewish Agency Waits
ecision on Marshall,
Bevin Talk in Moscow

(Special JTA Cables to The Jewish News1

JERUSALEM. (JTA)—Jewish leaders are looking, to Moscow for word on a speedy
solution of the Palestine issue, upon receipt of reports from Washington and New York
indicating that U. S. Secretary of State George Marshall will discuss the problem with Bri-
tain's Foreign Secretary Bevin during sessions of the Foreign Ministers. The Jewish Agency,
which began its meetings on Wednesday, is awaiting a sign from Moscow, hoping the United
States' advocacy of a solution will be favorable to the Jewish people.
After 50 years of more or less established policy, Zionists must develop new tactics in
new political and geographical surroundings. The chief significance of the Jewish Agency
meeting, and of the meeting of the Actions Committee which is to follow it, lies in the ability
of the Zionists to work out a new policy.

They're Appealing To You!

Somewhere in Europe—exact location- not important—are

these three persons—mother and child and perhaps her father, human beings who are waiting, wait-
ing; yes, they have so much to wait for: food, clothing, a home and word from the remainder of
their family. American Jewry's generosity will reduce their period of waiting by contributing to
the $170,000,400 United Jewish Appeal. major fu nd-raising agency of the Joint Distribution Com-

mittee, United Palestine Appeal and United Sery ice for New Americans. In the Detroit Allied
Jewish Campaign for $5,335,000, the UJA will receive $4,000,000 as Detroit's share in its over-
whelming world-wide relief and reconstruction activities. The annual meeting of the Jewish Welfare
Federation, next Tuesday evening, at the Staffer, will make plans for the drive. (Story on Page 5.)

Matzoth for Survivors: Passover, 1947, will see Jewish
survivors throughout Europe provided with more than 5,000.000
pounds of matzoth, matzoth meal, macaroons and other holiday
foods by the Joint Distribution- Committee, major American
agency aiding Jewish survivors abroad. With funds contributed
to the $170,000,000 campaign of the United Jewish Appeal.
the JDC has purchased and shipped from the U. S. more than
4,500,000 pounds of Passover foods for distribution by its overseas
staff. Above, a survivor in Berlin weighs locally-baked matzoth.
