Mr. and Mrs. Jerry J. Greenblatt and daughter, Fayanne, of
Fairfield Ave. are vacationing for a month in Miami Beach, Fla.
They plan to visit with their son, Lt. (j-8.) Norman Greenblatt, who
is stationed as a dentist in the U. S. Navy and resides with his wife
at Palm Beach, Fla. •
William Rosen, who now is residing in Los Angeles, was a
guest for two days with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Rosen of
Roseville, Mich.
Miss Betty Louise Siegel, whose marriage to Gerald Simons
will take place Feb. 23 at the Book Cadillac Hotel, was enter-
tained by the following: Mrs. Clara Tagress and Mrs. Sarah Siegel,
grandmothers of the bride, were hostesses at a shower at the Wilshire
Dec. 5. Mrs. Albert Simons was hostess at a personal and linen
shower at the Wardell Sheraton on Jan. 7. Mrs. Alvin Silver of
Cortland Ave. entertained with a dinner at her home on Jan. 14.
Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Aller of Washburn entertained with a dinner
party at their home on Jan. 19.• Mrs. Charles Aller of Oakman Blvd.
was hostess at a tea at her home for 60 guests on Jan. 24. Mrs. W.
Weston entertained with a dinner at her home.
Miss Florence Belkin of Cleveland has been the house guest of
her brother and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Murray Belkin of Boston
Blvd.
Samuel Smaltz of Gladstone Ave. has returned from a five-week
stay in Los Angeles.
Miss Paula Tyner entertained at her home Feb. 4 in honor of
Miss Ruth Yanow. bride-elect, of Newark, N. J. Miss Yanow and
Miss Tyner were roommates at the University of Mi ,-hir, an.
Mrs. Sally Hendin entertained. for her husband, Morrie, Feb.
9 and 11 in honor of his birthday.

The Joint Yiddish Culture
Committee of the Jewish Center
and the Jewish Community Coun-
cil announced a city-wide con-
ference at 11 a. m. Sunday, Feb.
16, of all Landsmanschaften and
Yiddish Culture Groups to dis-
cuss plans for the Abraham Rei-
ser 70th year anniversary cele-
bration.
Reisen celebrations are now
being conducted by Jewish corn-
munities throughout the country.
The poet will visit Detroit on
March 23, when Detroit Jewry
will honor him with a special
Reisen program at the Jewish
Center.

Broadstreet will find members
of the Jewish Center's Inter-
mediate Clubs ringing their door-
bells Sunday, Feb. 16, asking for
cans of food for SOS.
Feeling the need and hunger
of European Jews is of vital con-
cern to Jewish youth the Inter-
mediate Council has undertaken
this as its first big project of the
1947 season, council chairman
Marcia Wisotsky announces.
Elaine L. Prussian is chairman
of the special canvass section of
the SOS drive.
Anyone whose home is not
reached in the canvass may leave
contributions at the following
depots: Temple Beth El, Shaarey
Zedek, Hebrew Free Loan So-
ciety, Jewish Center, and 12th St.
Council Center.

Farband Schools Enroll
New Students, Stage
Purim Performances

All branches of the Farband
Schools have opened new clisses.
New pupils will be accepted and
parents are asked to enrol: them
as quickly as possible.
The branches are located at
1912 Taylor. 12244 Dexter and at
the Thirkell School, 14th and
Delaware.
The Farband Schools are mak-
ing preparations for the observ-
ance of Purim. Special perform-
ances will be staged at all
branches. The play "Shades of
Haman" will be presented by
:I pupils of the main school. The
Dexter branch will stage "With-
out Haman." There will be a
musical program at • the festival
planned March 9 at the Durfee

Farband school pupils parti-

tree-planting program of the
Jewish National Fund. Special
