Detroiter Uses Plastic
Tube as Medical Aid

DR. ARNOLD KADISH

ing plastic tubes to help save
lives by . detecting a tendency to

thrombosis.
The plan was introduced•Nat a
meeting of the American Assoc-
iation for the Advancement of
Science in Boston. It calls for the
use of tubes of lusteroid plastic,
to determine rapidity of the
thrombosis, the length of time
blood takes to clot. If a patient
has a tendency toward rapid
thrombosis, knowledge of such
tendency may help save his life
in the event of surgery, child-

birth. or coronary thrombosis,
which is a clot in an artery of
the heart and is often fatal.
Previous attempts using glass
tubes to determine such tendency
have not been completely satis-
factory, since glass tends to ac-
celerate coagulation.
Dr. Kadish's paper has re-
ceived complimentary reviews in
the Science News Letter and in
the American Heart Journal.
