Honoring the 70th anniversary
of Hebrew Union College, the
Union of American Hebrew Con-
gregations 'issued an album of
Jewish records under the title
"Israel Sings," and it thereby
marked another constructive con-
tribution to Jewish culture by
the parent organization of Re-
form Judaism.
Containing selections from the
Birnbaum collection of Jewish
liturgical music which have been
on the shelves of Hebrew Union
College Library since 1920, the
group of songs in "Israel Sings"

Technical Institute (T•chnion)
w as announced this week by
David J. Ross, president of the
Benton Harbor Jewish Commun-
ity Council.
Plans for the organization were
laid at a meeting in South Bend
following the visit of Dr. Shlomo
Kaplansky, Technion president,
in Benton Harbor, where he was
guest speaker at a dinner at-
tended by 250 Jewish residents

of southwestern Michigan. He
spoke on behalf of the Technion's
current drive for construction
funds, for which he spoke in
Detroit recently.
The new Technion chapter is
aiming at 300 to 500 members,
and is also laying the ground-
work for a $50,000 building pro-
gram during a three-year period.
Interested residents of a 100-
mile area around Benton Harbor
are invited to contact Ross at the
Progressive Industries Co., Ross
Park, Benton Harbor, for infor-
mation about the new group.
