Dr, Goldenson Addresses
Reform Cavalcade Service

Goldenson,
Dr. Samuel H.
spiritual leader of Temple
Emanuel of New York City and
one of the leading reform rabbis
in the country, will be guest
speaker at the combined Sabbath
Eve service of Temple Beth El
and Temple Israel at 8:15 p. m.
Friday, Jan. 17 at Temple Beth
El.
The services will be the De-
troit reform temples' observance
of the American Jewish Caval-
cade, the religious emphasis pro-
gram being sponsored by the
Union of American Hebrew Con-
gregations in 80 communities
throughout the country.
A special program of liturgical
music will be rendered by Can-
tor Robert S. Tulman of Temple

Starts Term Feb. 1

Rabbi Chaim Weinstein, princ-
ipal of the newly formed Talmud
Torah Beth Aaron, announces
that the school term will start
Feb. 1. Enrollments arc being ta-
ken for beginners and the Bar
Mitzvah group. The Talmud To-
rah is open to all residents of the
area regardless of congregational
affiliations.

fourth annual banquet commit-
tee of Yeshivath Chachmey Lub-
lin. The banquet will take place

head of the Synagogue Council of
America, has been elected Presi-
dent of the League for Safe-
guarding the Fixity of the Sab-
bath Against Possible Encroach-
ment by Calendar Reform. Since
1929, the Presidency was held by
the Rev. Dr. Moses Hyamson,
newly elected honorary presi-
dent, who resigned because of ill
health.

University, will review Sholem
Aleicherds "The Old Country," a
collection of short stories depict-
ing life in pre-Hitler Europe.
Rabbi Aron is a graduate of the
University of Chicago and the
Hebrew Theological College in
Chicago. He served for five
years as a chaplain in the United
States army.
