ACTIVITIES IN SOCIETY
Honoring Annabel Louise Berick, whose marriage to Joe Sheldon
Bishop took place Dec. 28, the folldwing pre-nuptial parties were
given: Mrs. Morris Greenberg of Toledo gave a luncheon and per-
sonal shower Nov. 30 at her home: Mrs. Joseph Berick gave a shower
at her home on Elmhurst; Mrs. Thomas VanVleet entertained with
a luncheon at her home on Corbett Ave.; Mrs. Monroe Title held a
kitchen shower at her home on Pasadena Ave.; Mrs. Frank Dick-
man of Wisconsin Ave. entertained at a luncheon; Mrs. Jack Marcus
and Mrs. Leslie Rosenberg entertained for the brine; a dinner and
miscellaneous shower was given by Mrs. Selma Wineman, Mrs.
Harry Portner and Mrs. Morris Finkelstein; the bride's sister, Mrs.
Clarence Sarasohn, entertained at a shower at Canterbury House,
and Mrs. James Helfer of Roselawn Ave. entertained at her home.
Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Berick of Pasadena Ave. have returned
from a three-month motor trip to California. Enroute they visited.
in St. Louis with their son, Harold, and his wife. While in Cali-
fornia they were guests of their sons, Coleman in San Mateo, Fred-
erick in Mill Valley, and Edward in Sacramento.
Mrs. Morris I. Kramar honored her future daughter-in-law,
Mildred Backalar, with a bridal shower Jan. 7 at the Wilshire Hotel.
Mr. and Mrs. Sam H. Rubin of 2940 Elmhurst are guests at the
Edison hotel in New York City, where they are visiting their chil-
dren, Mr. and Mrs. L Pianka of Jersey City.
Mr. and Mrs.' Frank Schefman of Burlingame Ave. had as
their guests Leonard . Rosin, Ralph Etomisarow, and Mrs. Mary
Komisarow of New York City; Mr. and Mrs. Al J. Zweig of Cleve-
land; Louis Zewig, Leo Sunshine, Harry Wagner, Sheldon Wagner,
and Mrs. Clara Field of Fort Wayne, Ind. The guests attended the
Bankle-Schefman wedding Jan. 7.
Mr. and Mrs. Isadore Levin of 1600 Seward left for a two-month
visit to Los Angeles, where they will stay with their children, Mr.
and Mrs. Morris Levin.
Emil A. Lawton and Mr. and Mrs. Edward Dahlberg will honor
their parents, Rabbi and Mrs. Irving A. Lawton of 2730 Burlingame
on the occasion of their 23th wedding anniversary at a reception at
their home from 3 to 8 p. m. Sunday, Jan. 26. No cards.
Dr. and Mrs.. Ted Winshall and son, Walter, will return to their
home on Pennington Dr. on Sunday, after a month's stay in Miami
Beach, Fla.
Miss Anita Reitman entertained at an open house-tea Jan. 12
in honor of Miss Libby Hirsch who is leaving to make her home with
her parents in California.
Mrs. Benjamin Shwayder of Fairfield Ave. and Mrs. Burton
Clamage of San Juan Dr. are spending a week in New York.
Mr. and Mrs. Maurice Klein of Chicago Blvd. are leaving this
Friday to spend a few days in Boston visiting Mrs. Klein's family.
Mrs. Cora Michaels of San Francisco is the guest of Mrs. Monroe
Rosenfield of the Belcrest.
Mrs. Meyer Rosenbaum of Boston Blvd. has left for Miami
Beach where she will spend several weeks.
Mr. and Mrs. Abraham Srere of Boston Blvd. have, returned
from New York.
Mr. and Mrs. Philip Mai cure of Glynn Ct. spent the last week-
end in Chicago.
Mr. and Mrs. Harry Krohn of Whitmore Rd. and Mr. and Mrs.
Al Mann of Muirland Ave. are spending 10 days in New York.
Mr. and Mrs. Harry Becker of Strathcona Dr. left on Sunday
for Florida where they will spend three weeks in Palm Beach and
Miami Beach.
. Betty Loewenstein has returned to New York following a few
weeks visit with her parents. Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Burak of Long-
fellow Ave. Her brother, Bill, who also was visiting, has returned
to Atlanta, Ga.
Mrs. Arthur Sarason and daughter, Connie, of Ohio Ave. have
returned from St. Louis where they visited their family.
Mr. and M'rs. Jacob Nieman of Wildemere Ave. have returned
from New York.
Mrs. Louis Wfrikelman of Oak Dr. left for Mimia Beach where
she will stay for the winter months.
Mr. and Mrs. Jack Rosenberg of Calvert Ave. are spending
some time in Hot Springs. Ark.
Mrs. Samuel Kahn and her daughter, Elinore. hgve returned

five weeks on the West Coast.
