SKY, 71, cantor and schoichet who
resided in Detroit for 21 years,_,
died at his home, 2744 Gladstone,
Dec. 18. He conducted services in
several local synagogues and was
well known in local Orthodox
circles. Cantor Rubin Boyarsky
'officiated at funeral services
which were held at the chapel
of Hebrew Benevolent Society.
Interment was in Hebrew Memo-
rial Park. He is survived by his
sons, Albert and Abraham Mit-
chiel of Detroit and Joseph Ma-
lachi of Beth Alpha, Palestine;
daughters Ida Imber and Mrs.
Minnie Taylor, and grandchil-
dren.

ISADORE CAVALIER, 67, a
resident of Detroit for 30 years,
died in Rochester, Minn. Dec. 18.
Funeral services were held at the
chapel of Hebrew Benevolent So-
ciety with interment in the Tur-
over Aid Society Cemetery. Rabbi
Morris Adler and Cantor J. Son-
enklar officiated. He is survived
by his sons, Max and Paul,
daughter, Esther Frances, and
one grandchild.

the Jewish Home for Aged Dec.
20. She was a resident of Detroit
for 28 years. Funeral services
were held at the chapel of He-
brew Benevolent Society. Inter-
ment was in Hebrew Memorial
Park. She is survived by two
daughters, Ida Decktor and
Beckie Rosen, one son, Michael
Wolf of 'Argentina, 14 grandchil-
dren, 28 great grandchildren and
One great, great grandchild.
Rabbi Isaac Stollman officiated.

in Machpelah Cemetery.

and Mrs. Irving Kruger of De-
troit; five grandchildren and a

husband, Morris; daughter, Shar-
on Ilene; mother, Mrs. Esther
Silverman; brothers Harry,' Dave
and Mitchell; sisters, Mrs. Joe
Steinberg, Mrs. Anna Bynder,
and Goldie.

Mrs. Milton Levine of Lansing,
and Mrs. Stanley Morganstern;
one brother, Alex Nichamin; and
one sister, Mrs. Bertha Lieber-
man.

Max M. Warburg Dies

NEW YORK, (JTA)-Max M.
Warburg. noted philanthropist and
Jewish communal leader who left
Nazi Germany in 1938 and be-
came an American citizen at the
age of 77, died at his home Dec.
26 at the age of 79.
Mr. Warburg, a brother of the
late Felix M. Warburg, was for
nearly 50 years the head of the
four-g en e r ation-old German
banking house of M. M. Warburg
and Co. until it was taken over
by the Nazis. For years he was
a director of the Central-Verein
Deutschen Staatsbuerger Juedis-
chen Glaubens (Central Union of
German Jews), which was a rep-
resentative body of all German
Jews. His most important Jew-
ish work was with the Hilfsverein
fer Deutschen Juden (German
Jewish Aid Society), major agen-
cy in Germany for the relief, re-
habilitation and resettlement of
distressed.Jews, founded in 1901
by his father, Moritz Warburg.
In this country he continued
his interest in Jewish communal
affairs and was elected a member
of the JDC board of directors and
executive committee in Decem-
ber, 1939. He was also elected to
active membership of the Am-
erican Jewish Committee.

Baron de Rothschild Dies
NEW YORK, (JPS) - Baron
Robert de Rothschild, retired
member of the Parish banking
family, died in Lausanne, Switz-
erland, at the age of 66.

Federal Direction of
State Employment

Pointing to the gains achieved
by the federal direction of state
employment offices in the elimin-
ation of discrimination in hiring,
Rabbi Irving Miller, chairman of
the Executive Committee of the
American Jewish Congress, urged
in a letter to state directors of
employment offices that they con-
tinue the policy of nen-discrim-
ination in classification and re-
ferral of job applicants. State
employment services were re-
turned by the federal government
to state operation and control on
Nov. 15.
