Liph Will Speak
On Farming at
Center Tuesday

Opportunities for Jews in agri-
culture will be discussed by Sam-
son Liph, director of the midwest
office of the Jewish Agricultural
Society, at 8 p.m., Tuesday, Jan.
7, at the Jewish Community
Center. Fred Butzel, chairman
of the executive committee of the
Jewish Welfare Federation, will
be the chairman.
Mr. Liph is making a special
appearance in Detroit to give
veterans and other interested
Jewish men and women an up-

farming and an unvarnished pic-
ture of farm life, as well as to

the Jewish Agricultural Society
to people who want to make agri-
culture their livelihood.
The 'Jewish Agricultural So-
ciety was founded and is main-
tained by funds derived from the
Baron DeHirsch Foundation. Its
purpose is to encourage and to
advance farming by Jews in the
United States. Through a depart-
ment of farm settlement, the
society advises those who intend
to enter farming and helps the
qualified person to get the right
farm and on the right terms. In
the past ten years, the society has
been responsible for the estab-
lishment on farms of almost
1;000 Jewish families. Other
services of the society include
education, employment and sani-
tation.

Silver declared he was impressed
with the Histadrut's achieve-
ments and predicted that the co-
