School Tots to Post-Graduates

Antiochus and his FORMIDABLE ARMY are portrayed here by
a group of boys and girls who are gaining interesting acquaintance-
ships with some of the great events in Jewish history.

ursery-school-age youngsters learn much about Hebrew culture
gh games and songs in a special pre-school program held from
2 five days a week by the United Hebrew Schools.

Regular Sabbath morning services
(above photo) are attended by UHS
students. The three boys shown here are
young Cantors. Abraham Schachter and
Abraham Panush, teachers, members of
the David W. Simons School faculty, are
conducting these services.

Many especially interested and highly gifted young men and women con-
tinue their studies in the UHS post-graduate curriculum, which includes ad-
vanced Hebrew literature.

Lighting the candies on Hanukah

(photo below) is one of the holiday

observances welcomed eagerly by

the boys and girls.

The most impressive aspect of this scene (above)
cannot be shown in the picture since the sound of young
voices interpreting Hebrew songs is one of the most ef-
fective demonstrations that Hebrew culture is alive in
the hearts and minds of Detroit's young Jews.

Pictures of the United Hebrew SchOok
were taken by Dorothy's Studio.
