Robert Luby to Be Assistant Moshe Kaplansky to Be Guest Speaker Director of Fresh Air Camp At Technion Patrons' Dinner Here, Jan. 6 Robert R. Luby, former Wayne University track and foot- ball star, has been appointed assistant director of the Fresh Air Camp, according to an announcement by Charles N. Agree, president of the Fresh Air Society, sponsors of the camp. Luby, who was a Lieutenant in the U. S. Army Air Ciarps_ for more than three years, is now head of the physical education department of the Columbian School. Bringing to the camp a back- ROBERT R. LUBY ground in group work, Luby was section director at Camp Ta- makwa in 1946 and previously served as counselor and assistant director at the Fresh Air and Lone Ranger Camps. A native of Detroit, Luby is married to the former Miriam Cutler and has one son, Richard, three years old. The Fresh Air Camp is a mem- ber agency of the Jewish Welfare Federation and a Red Feather Service of the Community Chest. Juniors to Crown `King for 1947' at Jan. 4 Jamboree Reversing the usual procedure, young women of the .Junior Serv- ice Group, Jewish Welfare Fed- eration, will be judging the fine points of the JSG men when they select a "King for 1947" at their January Jamboree to be held Sat - urday, Jan. 4, in the Fountain Ballroom of the Masonic Temple. The music of Ray Gorrell and his orchestra will help to banish that post-New Year's Eve "let- down" feeling. A high point of the evening will be the crowning of the "king" who will be select- ed, according to Hermine Stone, dance chairman, for brains, brawn and other points of mascu- line pulchritude. NEW YORK — Jewish leaders from 61 nations attending the 22nd World Zionist Congress in Basle, Switzerland, hailed "with great enthusiasm and applause" the announcement that the Jewish community of America has un- dertaken to raise $170,000,000 through the United Jewish Ap- peal in 1947, according to a cable received at UJA headquarters from Eliezer Kaplan, treasurer of the Jewish Agency for Palestine and a delegate to the Congre%s. Louis I. Galin, national marshal, are both Detroiters. Five hundred delegates from all parts of the country are ex- pected. The fraternity has a na- tional membership of 8,000 Jew- ish dentists.
