S. during World War II have less than two months to qualify for immediate citizenship under the Second War Powers Act of 1942 according to Emil N. Baar, chairman of the National Jewish Welfare Board Veterans Service Committee, who called attention to a release of the Veterans Ad- ministration warning that the law would expire Dec. 31. The act affects all aliens who enlisted or were inducted into the service before Dec. 28, 1945. Among the subjects under con- sideration are the basic prob- lems, purposes and structure of Jewish community organization; a comprehensive analysis of Jew- ish needs and programs in Eu- rope and Palestine; fund-raising and budgeting for 1947 local, na- tional and overseas needs, bath current and capital; major trends in Jewish cultural life; commun- it - relations and civic-protective activities, national and local; pro- posals for establishing colleges, universities a n d professional schools under Jewish austSices, and current trends in Jewish so- cial services, including programs for the aged, youth, children, the needy and the chronically ill.
