Isadore Gallow of Calvert Ave. has returned from Long Island
where he spent a few days visiting with his son-in-law and daughter,
Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Solwen.
Coming home this week from Staunton Military Academy,
Virginia, to spend the holidays with his parents, Mr. and Mrs.
Hyman Cohen of Lawrence Ave., will be Cadet Leon A. Cohen.
Bill Hass, who is a student at Kenyon College, Gambier, 0.,
is spending the holiday vacation with his parents, Mr. and Mrs.
Arthur J. Hass, 8651 LaSalle.
Included among the young men who are home from schools in
the east are Richard Heavenrich and Stewart Greene, Harvard,
Robert Enggass, Columbia Law and James Fixel from Philadelphia.
Mrs. Morris Zack of Atkinson Ave. is spending the winter in
Hot Springs, Ark.
Mrs. Selma Rosenblatt has moved from Gladstone Ave. and is
now residing at 3265 West Boston.
Mr. and Mrs. Reuben D. Wax of Lauder Ave. returned on
Wednesday from a visit in Miami Beach, Fla.
Betty Goldberg, who attends Goucher College in Baltimore,
is spending the vacation period with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Louis
Goldberg of the Belcrest Hotel.

Hershey to Pay Tribute
To War Record Workers
NEW YORK—Maj. Gen. Lewis
B. Hershey, director of the Se-
lective Service System, will be
the principal speaker at a dinner
on Jan. 9, at the Waldorf Astoria,
paying tribute to the volunteers
who participated in the work of
assembling the record of Amer-
ican Jewry in World War II.
His address will be broadcast.
The event, sponsored by the
National Jewish Welfare Board,
will honor Dr. Louis I. Dublin,
nationally prominent statistician,
and Dr. Samuel C. Kohs, volun-
teer and professional directors,
respectively, of the JWB's Bureau
of War Records.
1,000 DPs Land in U. S.
Through Truman Order
The first anniversary of Presi-
dent Truman's directive on im-
migration of refugees and dis-
placed persons- is being marked
by arrival in the U. S. under the
President's-Finn of nearly 1,000
concentration camp survivors
from American-occupied zones in
Europe, it was reported by
United Service for New Ameri-
cans.
About 900 DPs were due in
New York this Friday aboard
the SS "Marine Marlin," follow-
ing the arrival a few days ago of
85 aboard the SS "Ernie Pyle."

Ben-Horin, author of "The Mid-

estine news service in Tel-Aviv,
declared he . was "overwhelmed
by the tremendous economic and
industrial development" he had
found in Palestine after an ab-
