Charles T. Gellman, president
of Young Israel of Detroit, was
elected to his second term as
president of the Midwestern Re-
gional Council of Young Israel at
the 13th annual convention held
in Cincinnati, Nov. 28 to Dec.
1. Delegates from branches in
Chicago, Cleveland, St. Louis,
Kansas City, Cincinnati, New
York City and Detroit were in
attendance.
Detroit's 18 delegates, included
veterans and representatives of
Young Israel intermediate groups
who met with other intermed-
iates to form an Intermediate
Youth CounciL The Midwestern
Council passed resolutions favor-
ing the establishment of schools
for adult education in each
branch; kosher restaurants in
those cities where there are none,
a national young adult council;
and the employment of a regional
executive director to serve all
Young Israel branches in the
Midwest.

tensive report on building plans
for Young Israel of Detroit's
Youth Center, construction on
which is shortly to begin and
which is expected to cost $150.000.
