120 Landsmanshaften, Fraternal
Groups Urged to Aid. Histadrut

J. L. Wolock, chairman of the
organizations committee func-
tioning in behalf of the Detroit
Labor Palestine Histradut cam-
paign. (Gerwerkshaften), an-
nounces a special call has gone
forth to 120 landsmanshaften and
other fraternal groups to parti-
cipate in this year's drive.
Mr. Wolock pointed out that
organizations last year contribut-
ed $43;000 towards the $127,000
; raised for Gewerkshaften. The
call to societies urges this ef-
fort be surpassed - during the
present drive.

Pisgah Lodge Bnai Brith will
hold its annual Hanukah party
at the Jewish Center, at 8 p. m.
Monday, Dec. 16.

To Attend JDC Parley at Center

More than 300 leaders of 70 local Landsmanshaften are

expected at the conference at 2 p. m. this Sunday, at the Jew-
ish Center, under sponsorship of the American Jewish Joint
Distribution Committee.
Norman V. Gilmovsky, director of the council of organ,
izations of the United Jewish Appeal, who recently returned
from a tour of Europe, visiting in Poland, France, Germany
and other countries, will be among the speakers. He will
bring with him records of Jewish survivors.
Other speakers will be Solomon Tarashansky, JDC lands-
manshaften director, and Isidore Sobeloff, director of the
Jewish Welfare Federation of Detroit.
All Detroit organizations are urged to send representa-
tives to this conference. Individuals also are invited.

Graduation exercises for two
of the United Hebrew Schools
have been announced by Ber-
nard Isaacs, superintendant of
the UHS.
Exercises for the Parkside
school graduation will be held
at Custer school on Sunday, Jan.
12. The D. W. Simons school ex-
ercises will be held at Winter-
halter school on Sunday. Jan. 19.
Programs for both events will
start at 7:30 p. m.

The 32nd annual meeting of
the Joint Distribution Committee
will take place on Sunday, Jan.
12, at Hotel New Yorker, New
York City, it was announced by
Rabbi Jonah B. Wise, a vice-
chairman of JDC and a national
chairman of the United Jewish
Appeal. Representatives of Eu-
ropean Jewish communities will
present accounts of the conditions
of distressed Jews abroad.
