Frank, Noted Correspondent, Combined Units
To Address JNF Auxiliary Dec. 17 Of AK to Hear

Gerold Frank, eminent corre-
spondent who covered the trial
of Lord Moyne's assassins for The
Jewish News in• Egypt, will ad-
dress a public meeting of the
Ladies' Auxiliary of the Jewish
National Fund Tuesday evening,
Dec. 17, in the Brown Memorial
Chapel of Temple Beth El.
Recognized as one of the out-
standing authorities on Palestine
and the Middle East, Frank has
just returned to this country
after adding new laurels as the
only newspaperman to accom-
pany the Anglo-American Com-
mittee of Inquiry on the whs4e
of its historic investigation

of the Book-Cadillac Hotel. Mr.
Easterman is political secretary
of the World Jewish Congress,
European Division.
The combined meeting, spon-
sored jointly by the Detroit Sec-
tion, the Women's Division and
the Business and Professional
Chapter of the Congress, will be
open to the public. There will be
no admission charge.

Hashomer Hatzair
Holds Winter Camp
Hashomer Hatzair will sponsor
its annual winter camp session at
Mill Lake, Chelsea, Mich., Dec.
21 to 27.
These non-profit camps are
organized to give Jewish children
the benefit of supervised activity
in creative arts, winter sports,
and discussions of current Jew-
ish events, and Jewish history.
An opportunity to meet fellow-
campers will be given at 8:30
p.m. Friday, Dec. 13, at an Oneg
Shabbat at Hashomer Hatzair

To Petition Congress
On Immigration Policy
Detroit Branch of the Woman's
International League ?or Peace
and Freedom sponsored a meet-
ing Nov. 27 at the YWCA in the
interest of the revision of the
S. immigration policy.
Representatives of 20 social, la-
bor, civic and church groups
were present and were unani-
mous in support for legislation
which would permit unfilled quo-

used in behalf of displaced per-
sons.

First Hand Experiences

conditions of European Jewry, is
based on first hand experience.
In Palestine he was held incom-
municado by terrorist leaders
whom he interviewed; in the
Lebanon he was arrested by
secret police; in the displaced
persons camps of Austria and
Germany, he heard stories of
human tragedy from survivors of
Hit ler's crematoria.
During 1944 and 1945 Mr.
Frank reported events from Pal-
estine for the Nation, Palcor
News Agency and Overseas Press,
Inc., and was briefly Blue Net-
work correspondent in Cario.

Attend Conference
Of Landsmanshaft
Seventy Landsmanshaft organ-
izations in the Detroit area will
attend a special mass relief con-
ference sponsored by the Council
of Organizations of the Joint Dis-
tribution Committee at the Jew-
ish Center, Sunday, Dec. 15.
Featured speakers will be Nor-
man V. Gilmovsky, director of
the Council of rganizations of the
United Jewish Appeal: Solomon
Tarashansky, JDC
Landsman-
shaft director; and Isidore Sobel
off, director of the Jewish Wel-
fare Federation.
More than 300 members of
Landsmanshaften are expected to
attend. Landsmanshaften—benev-
olent groups whose members im-
migrated decades ago to the U. S.
where they formed societies
bearing the names of their native
communities, have contributed
$2,000,000 this year to the United
Jewish Appeal, from which the
JDC receives its funds. Lands-
manshaft groups also contribute
funds directly to the JDC ear-
marked for special relief pro-
jects in specified overseas com-
munities.
Mr. Gilmovsky, who returned
recently from Europe, will report
on his findings.
