Madeline Shiner, daughter of the Bernard Shiners of Holcomb
Ave., left for Los Angeles, where she will visit with relatives.
Ralph Shiller is in New York attending the Juillard School of
Music.
Mr. and Mrs. Nathan Wenokur of Glendale Ave. entertained
at a family Thanksgiving dinner honoring their son, Lee, who was
recently discharged from the armed forces.
Mr. and Mrs. Sidney B. Morris left Wednesday for a two-week
visit in Youngstown, 0.
Mr. and Mrs. Joe Horwitz of Warrington Dr. have returned
from a few days in New York City.
- Seymour J. Levine, a student in the College of Architecture
and Design, University of Illinois, will spend his Thanksgiving
vacation with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. David A. Levine of 1652
Burlingame.
* Mr. and Mrs. N. Rothenberg, of Elmhurst Ave., and children,
Dr. and Mrs. Bernard R. Berman (Ruth Rothenberg), have moved

at Wayne University will honor their six pledges and their dates at
a progressive dinner party Saturday evening at the homes of Bette

Vandenberg Honored

Set Luncheon Goal
Of $10,000 for Center

The Women's League of Young
Israel of Detroit announces its
second annual donor luncheon, to
be held at 12:30 p, m. Wednesday,
Dec. 18, in the social hall of

Shaarey Zedek.
Mrs. Ephriam Ralph. chairman,
announced that the Women's
League has set as its goal the
support of Young Israel's youth
activity program and has pledged
to raise $10,000 toward the erec-
tion of the organization's new
Center.
The guest speaker at the lunch-
eon will be Dr. Bernard Lander,
associate director of Mayor
O'Dwyer's Committee on Unity in
New York City. The musical pro-
gram will feature Shoshanah
Brooke Freedman, noted soprano.

Court of Appeals, highest state
court, has refused to review a
lower court's dismissal of a suit
seeking to deny tax exemptions
to Columbia University on the
grounds that it practiced dis-
crimination in admissions.
