JUDGE WILLIAM NEWCORN,
'18, father of Harry I. Newcorn of
.Detroit, died Nov. 10 in Plain-
field, N. J. A noted figure in
legal, political, and religious af-
fair's in New Jersey and Pennsyl-
vania, Judge Newcorn was for 18
years president of Temple Sho-
lom in Plainfield. He was a past
president of the Plainfield YMHA-
YWHA Jewish Community Cen-
ter, a member of the American
Jewish Committee, an execu-
tive of the Joint Distribution
Committee, and a member of the
administrative committee of the
National Council of the Zionist
Organization of America. Other
survivors include sons Cecil, of
Buffalo, and Jerome, of Plain-
field; a daughter, Mrs. R. Yood,
of Plainfield; and a brother, Sam-
uel, of Philadelphia.

MAX M. BRAUN of 2507 Edi-
son, for 30 years a practicing at-
torney in Detroit, died last Fri-
day. Funeral services were held
at Lewis Bros. Born in Pittsburgh,
May 21, 1892, Mr. Braun studied
at Pittsburgh law school and Uni-
versity of West Virginia and was
graduated from Detroit College
of Law. He was a member of De-
tzoit, Michigan and American bar
associations, Union Lodge, Odd-
fellows, Cosistory and Shrine, F.
as A. M. He is survived by his
wife, Muriel; his mother, Mrs.
Joseph Braun; a son, Richard
Emil; three brothers, Dr. Lionel,
Lewis and Harry S. of Seattle,
and three sisters.

ficial AJC organ, which declared
that a "widening and formidable
gap separates the so-called 'Jew-

that the desire among Jews for
survival as a people rather than
the negative force of "anti-
fascist unity" must be the motiv-
