Write Essays on
Palestine Mandate

Pupils in all Detroit Jewish
schools are participating in an
essay contest on the obligations
the world powers owe to the Jew-
ish people under the Palestine
Mandate, complete text of which
was published in last week's issue
of The Jewish News.
A limited number of copies of
the issue containing the Mandate
still is available at the office of
The Jewish News.
Participants are asked to make
note of the fact that while Pales-
tine today, without Transjordan-
ia, is less than 10,000 square miles
in size with a population of 1,-
500,000, there are seven Arab
states with a total area of 1,288,-
954 square miles for a population
of 14,000.000.

Ben Zion Goldberg, eminent
author, columnist of the Jewish
Daily Day, who has just returned
from a, tour of Soviet Russia, Pol-
and and Palestine, will report on
his impressions of Jewish condi-
tions in these countries at a mass
meeting at the Bnai Moshe next
Wednesday evening at 8 o'clock.
The meeting was arranged by
the Black 'look Committee, the
United City Committee of Lands-
manshaften, the American Jew-
ish Congress and Jewish People's
Order.

from Europe where he was in
charge of establishing academic
and vocational schools. organizing
trade schools for teachers and set-
ting up libraries.
The rest of the evening's dis-
cussion will be devoted to a study
of Jewish overseas relief activi-
ties in general.
Also participating in the pro-
g-am will be the Hadassah
Chorus. An orchestra will pro-
vide music for dancing.
All Detroit Jewish youth are
invited. Two cans of food for
overseas relief will be the price
of admission. The cans will be
donated to the JDC - sponsored
SOS Emergency Collection.
