Miss Babette Lichtenstein, Nov. 17 bride-elect, was honored
at a dinner and miscellaneous shower on Oct. 24, at the Lee Plaza.
Hostesses were Mesdames Harry Golden and G. J. Sugarman. Mrs.
Louis Sacks and daughter, Bess, honored her at a dinner and
cocktail party on Oct. 12.
Mr. and Mrs. Louis Rubenstein of Wisconsin ,Ave. celebrated
their 50th wedding anniversary Friday, Nov. 1.
The Charles Handlers of 2475 Pingree are happy - to' welcome
their cousins from Buenos Aires, Juan and Anita Feinstein who
with their 'children,- Gracilla and Horacio, are visiting in Detroit.

Mr. t nd Mrs. Louis Morrison, Of W. Philadelphia, entertained
at a surprise dinner Oct. 26 in honor of their niece, June Kalish,
who has left to join her parents in Phoenix, Ariz. -
Included among the delegates who left on Sunday for Dallas,
Tex., to attend the triennial meeting of the National Council of
Jewish Women, were Mesdames Herbert Smith, Ben Shwayder,
Joseph Welt, Samuel Glogower, Joseph Gaylors; Douglas I. Brown,
-Lewis B. Daniels and Maxwell Katzen. Following the meeting,
Mrs. Daniels plans on spending a few weeks in Texas visiting with
friends.
Mrs. Harold Desenberg, of Fairfield Ave., is spending 10 days
in New - York as the guest of her sister, Miss Sally Phillips.
Dr. and Mrs. A. M. Hershman, of Calvert Ave., had as their
guests for a few days Mrs. Hershman's brother, Dr. Samuel Lewin-
Epstein of Jerusalem, Palestine, and his son, Capt. Jacob Lewin-

; Epsteiti, *Ito returned last week rrom Japan where he was
with the U. S. Army Dental Corps.
Mrs. Fred Dreifuss and daughter, Nancy, of Memphis, Tenn.,
are spending the week as guests of Mrs. Dreifuss' mother, Mrs.
Herman Finsterwald, and her brother-in-law and sister, Mr. and
Mrs. Clement Hopp, of Longfellow Ave.
Mr. and Mrs. Henry Soss, of BAlmOral Rd., are visiting in
New York.
Mr. and Mrs. Charles Rubiner. of Chicago Blvd.. have re-
turned from a visit in New York where they were the guests of Dr.
Bernard Heiler and in Baltimore where they visited Mr. Rubiner's
brother-in-law and sister, Mr. and Mrs. Murray Kirschman.
-Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Godsol, of Muirland Ave.. are planning to
leave on. Sunday for a stay in New York.
Mr. and Mrs. George Kleinman. of Calvert Ave., left on Monday
to spend a week in New York. - From there Mrs. Kleinman will
go to Washington, D. C., where she will visit her family, Mr. and
-Mrs. Mordec'ar Ezekiel and Mr. and Mrs. Elliot Moyer.

visit in Toronto.
Mrs. Harry Petherick, -of Merton :ltd., has returned from Los
Angeles where she spent the last six weeks visiting with her

visit in New York.

Hospital. Camp Atterbury, Ind., after a fey,' days' leave spent with

Mrs_ Ida Platt, of Calvert Ave., has left for Los Angeles where
site plans to spend the winter.

Society, at a banquet and pro-
gram Nov. 3, Louis Shiell was
master of ceremonies.
'Representatives of more than
thirty community organizations
brought messages of. congratula-
tions to the Chesed shel Ernes.
Sam Nelson and Louis Larigwald,
former_presidents of the Society,
reviewed the history of the insti-
tution. Founded in 1916 by 12
community - minded Detroiters,
the Society has expanded to its
present status through "contribu-
tions of dimes and quarters, - rath-
er than dollars."
- Samuel Brezner, Chesed shel
Stns. president, declared that "the
institution is , wealthy spiritually,
not financially." Its $250,000 as-
sets are devoted mainly- to the
funeral chapel on Joy Road and
the Society's cemetery, he ex-
plained.
Cantor David Katzman. of
Cong. Bnai Moshe, chanted the
memorial service, in which spec-
ial tribute was paid to Samuel
Sandweiss and Harry Solomon,
who were prominent in establish-
ing and maintaining the Chesed
shel Emes.

The club recently contributed
$360 to the Child Rescue Fund,
and has sent packages of food
and clothing abroad.

Detroit Habonim
Plans Expansion

In conjunction with the na-
tional Labor Zionist Youth mem-
bership campaign, Detroit chap-
ter of Habonim has launched a
program of expansion. Six new
groups have already been form-
ed.
An Oneg Shabbat for old and
n.rbv members between the ages
of 12 and 14 will be held at 7:30
p. ni. this Friday at the Farband
Folk Shule, Taylor at Twelfth.

Saturday evening.
