Mr. and Mrs. Benj. Fishman of Fairfield Ave. left Sunday; Oct.
27, for New York where they will celebrate their twentieth anni-
versary. They were honored Saturday, Oct. 26, with a surprise
dinner party given by Mr. and Mrs. John Sklar at their home on
Calvert Ave.
Mr. and Mrs. Akivah Drasnin (Henrietta Almug) have returned
from their trip to Buffalo, N. Y., where they attended the wedding
of their cousin, Esther Yenoff, to Aaron Yasinow. While in Buffalo,
the Drasnins were guests of their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Hy Seders.
Mrs. Phil Shaffer of Taylor Ave. was hostess at an open house
in honor of the engagement of her niece, Mildred Backalar, to
Norman Kramer.
Saturday night, a Halloween affair was held at the home of
Resa Max, 3749 Lawrence.
Dr. and Mrs. H. S. Mellen are leaving for a fortnight's stay in
Miami Beach and Havana.
Mr. and Mrs.,Joseph H. Sake, of Shrewsbury Road, entertained
75 guests at their home with a cocktail and dinner party in honor
of their 25th wedding anniversary, on Sunday evening, Oct. 27.

bers of the Jewish communities
throughout Romania will be sub-
ject to compulsory taxation to fi-
nance the rehabilitation of com-
munity institutions. The govern-
ment has granted permission for
such a levy and it will be paid to
state tax collectors.
