Australia, India Agree
To Accept Refugees
On Travel Documents

LONDON, (JTA) — Australia
and India have indicated they
will join the 15 nations which
this week subscribed to an agree-
ment to issue international travel
documents for stateless refugees,
it was learned. Several other
states also have expressed will-
ingness to honor the documents,
which will serve in lieu of pass--
ports.
The prevent signatories to the
agreement are: United States,
Argentina, Belgium, Chile, Dom-
inican Republic, Ecuador, France,
Greece, Luxembourg, Nether-
lands, Sweden, Switzerland, Bri-
tain and Venezuela.
The travel permits, which will
be similar to the Nansen pass-
ports issued by the League of
Nations after the last war, are
an improvement on the latter in
that the holder may return to
the country in which it was is-
sued without a visa.

Jack Benny needed a verse for
a coming radio program and had
spent a week with his writers
toiling on the piece. They got
all but the last line, which
lacked a punch. After a couple
of days sweating, the comic called
the scribblers on the phone.
"Look. fellows," he said, "if you
have any more trouble. forget
the poem; just concentrate on
digging up Edgar Guest's phone
number for me!"
