Clothing sent to the Congress
Warehouse in New. York City is
cleaned and repaired by volun-
teer workers and sent direct to
Europe. Soldiers' clothing, in-
signia removed, and shoes are

An appeal is being made for
medical supplies and comfort
items for European Jewry, under
the direction of Mrs. Julius Stross.
Maimonides Women's Auxiliary
has designated the month of No-
vember for the collection of items

Achieved Through USO,
Mrs. Welt Declares
"USO today stands as a re-
markable achievement in inter-
faith and interracial harmony,"
states Mrs. Joseph M. Welt of De-
troit, president of the National
Council of Jewish Women, as one
of the reasons for her support of
USO in its current $19,000,000 ap-
peal. In a letter to the organiza-
tion's president, Dr. Lindsley F.
Kimball, she wrote:
"I know what USO has meant
to all the women in this country
who have had, or still have, loved
ones in service. Because it has
always "led" with the heart,
everyone who has come into con-
tact with it has felt its warmth
and its generous spirit of hos-
pitality. Its services have been
r-mdered equally to all and equal-
ly by all. . . . As long as it is
needed, — and the Army, Navy
and Federal Government have re-
quested it to continue through
