Delivery Service
Bob Shorr, who went through
32 months of 'regimentation' as
a sailor in the U. S. Navy in
Guadalcanal, New Guinea and
later at the Naval school at No-
tre Dame University, got so
darned tired waiting in line one
Sunday morning and as a result
you and I can stay • home Sunday
mornings and enjoy the comforts
of easy living.
For now we can have our fresh
bagel-and lox without leaving
the house.
Bob, who is 24 and a premedi-
cal student at Wayne University,
and his ,brothers, Mickey, 21, and
Jack, 22, combined for 96 months
in the armed services, and a lot
of that time "just standing in
line."
Bob is the author of "Bob the
Bagel Boy," heading of adver-
tisements running in The Jewish
News. He's taken his brothers in
with him and their bagel and lox
delivery business has grown be-
yond their expectations. They
have ordered two more trucks to
serve their customers, who now
number 500.
Jack, in charge of delivery per-
sonnel and routing, served 40
months in the AAF and OSS and
served in Italy, North Africa, Sic-
ily and Algiers. Disguised as a
civilian he worked with the
French underground. He installed
short wave radio stations in
France before D-Day.
Mickey put in 24 months in the
Army. While a patient in Madi-
gan General Hospital, he wrote
and produced the first "all-Pa-
tient" Army show, "Bed Pan
Revue." Later he traveled with
an army show on the west coast.
He is in charge of advertising
and promotion for "Bob the Ba-
gel Boy."
And Bob, who just coulcir7t
