It is of the utmost importance that we get a liberal response this year to the box clearance appeal now being made to the 3,000 possessors of the Blue and White JNF Boxes. Please receive our volunteers courte- ously and make certain that your boxes are well filled—as a practical response to those who are attempting to stifle Jewish aspirations in Palestine. MRS. AARON FRIEDMAN, Chairman MRS. PHILIP SLOMOVITZ, Ca-Chairman Africa Adolf Hitler was inaugurating in the Reich. It has been called "one of the books that rocked the world." As a result of this book and the dispatches Mr. Mowrer was sending from Germany, he was expelled from the Reich by Hitler—winning the distinction of being the first American corre- spondent to be sent out of Ger- many by the Nazis. World Situation Few Americans have had such opportunities for understanding the world situation as Mr. Mow- rer. He is familiar with all the countries of Europe and has worked in most of them. He has spent years in France, Germany, and Italy, and speaks the lan- guages of these countries. He has worked in Britain and twice spoken to large groups of mem- bers of the British Parliament in committee rooms at the House of Commons. He has visited Russia and twice been to the Far East for extended trips. He covered World War I, the beginning of the Spanish Civil War, and one phase of the war in China. He predicted, in 1923, that Mussolini would make trouble for the world unless speedily squashed; in 1933 that Adolf Hitler was "hell-bent" on a new war; in 1936 that Japan was about to start on the effort to dominate the Far East. Mr. Mowrer returned to this country in Noveniber, 1941, just before Pearl Harbor.
