Many Clubs, Community Groups Use Center

Meeting Facilities, -Staff Aid
Provided for Organizations

(IENTER MEETING ROOM facilities and staff assistance in
program planning are utilized by more than 50 community
organizations, by four veterans groups, and by many junior,
teen-age. young adult. and older adult clubs.
The American Veterans Committee (uPPer right) shown

zations which meet several times monthly.
. Democracy in action is the theme of the Center's club pro-
grain. Through the extensive club activities and club councils,
persons of all age ranges apply the richness of our democratic
heritage. Center facilities and staff as-
sistance are available to AZA (right),
Bnai Brith Young Men, Boy Scouts,
Girl Scouts, Zionist Youth, Habonim,
Campfire Girls and Young Judea as well
as to Detroit youth as part of the effort
to develop an alert democratically
minded youth.

ings held by more than 50 community
groups at the Center.
Individuals wishing to form clubs
affiliated with the Center and com-
munity groups desiring use of the Cen-
ter's meeting rooms should contact
Harold Arian, assistant director at

Center Membership
At All-Time High

Approximately 5.000 members are currently
enrolled at the Center, including more than
1.600 veterans who receive free memberships
for six months. Below are youths applying for
membership applications at the desk in the

lobby. Many families are enrolled under the
family full membership plan, in which a 10
per cent reduction is offered.

There is an abundance of program and activity
at the Center, sufficient to meet the needs of every
man and woman, boy and girl in the Jewish com-
munity. Whether you are interested in an occa-
sional workout. - or in joining a club. or in whole-
some fun and- recreation, or in making friends in
a congenial atmosphere, the Center is the place for
you The Center belongs to the Jewish Community.

Staff Conference

Staff discussions are held weekly to discuss the
program based on the daily experiences with the

membership. Recommendations are passed on by
the staff to committees and the board of directors.
Guests from other agencies are invited • to attend
staff meetings. and the interchange of experience
leads o improved methods of serving the member-
ship and the entire Jewish community.

HERMAN JACOBS

HAROLD. ARIAN

Executive director of the Center
since February. 1936, he is former
president of the National Associa-
tion of Jewish Center Workers, a
former lecturer at Wayne Univer-
sity School of Social Work, and

Assistant director since Febru-
ary, 1946. Mr. Arian is responsible
for Center program coordination
and is president of the Midwest
