ant events.
The Windsor Jewish Commun-
ity heartily endorses the cam-
paign for $25,000 to be conducted
Sept. 23 to Oct. 5 by the Wind-
sor District Boy Scouts Associa-
tion Campsite Committee. This is
the first communitywide appeal
made in behalf of the Boy Scouts.
Its purpose is to raise the money
necessary for the purchase and
establishment of a lovely camp-
site for the permanent use of all
district Boy Scouts.
Chairman of the campaign
committee is Eli Goldin, whose
discription of the campsite and
its fine augury for the future of
Scouting in Windsor makes the
project sound like one of the best
things that has happened to the
Windsor general community. The
600
camp will accommodate
youngsters at a time—more than
2,000 each summer.

Kol Nidre

By ABRAHAM CAPLAN

Thrice mystic melody with strange
prosaic text.
Heart-tugging strains sublime in their
outpouring.
Distilled from poignancies of souls full
sexed
And forthm ith up to Heaven's chambers
soaring.
Thou song compouded of devoutest
urges.
Belonging not to earth and yet of can-
toi's art:
Like Ime's chaste plaints and not at
all like dirges.
As tears 10 longings are a counterpart:
Thou mystic chant, of Israel's anguish
fashioned.
Whose notes narrate of men who bos-
omed death
When freedom was abased and, thus
impassioned.
Proclaimed God King •with their last
dying breath__
Thou song, uplift us on thy wings of
grace,
Make pure our prayers when they meet
God's face.
