Over the signature of Rabbi M. J. Wohlgelernter, president, and
Morris Snow, treasurer, Yeshivath Beth Yehudah this week issued

1946-47.
Leaders of the school, which is entering upon its 30th year
with the beginning of 5707, explained that among 650 pupils enrolled
in 34 cla,ses, there were a number of children of underprivileged
families, orphans, refugees, and those whose fathers are still in
the a, med forces, who cannot pay tuition.
Cost of Instruction
While 40 per cent of the budget during the last fiscal year was
re.ceived from students, there were many who could not meet the
lull r,ist of instruction, which averaged more than $180 annually,
or $15 a month.

A re- quest was made of all synagogues for scholarship fund
cent ributions from their High Holy Day appeals. Officers of organi-
zations were asked to discuss this matter at one of their early meet-
ing,. A direct approach is being made to individuals for personal
contributions.
Thirty - five on Teaching Staff
Rabbi Moses Fischer, chairman of the Yeshivah board of educa-
tion. reverilfielthat at the beginning of the fall term in the school on
.5e‘pt. 9. there were 10 classes of Hebrew instruction in the Beth
Yehudah Day School, which includes boys and girls from first
through ninth grades; two Kindergarten groups for children of
1 . - 6 years of age; six classes in the Afternoon Beth Jacob School
for Girls. whose pupils range from 6 to 18 years, and 15 in the
A te•rnoon Yeshivah. supplementing public school instruction on the
elementary and high school levels. The faculty now consists of 25
te achers and 10 department heads.
Registration in all divisions continues. Some classes are closed,
and parallel groups may be formed later in October.

Sion Levene, noted star of
stage, screen and radio, will play
the leaddig role in "The Parable
of Reb Yisrov1, - an original radio
drama by Morton Wishengrad to
be presented on the Eternal Light
program on Sunday, Sept. 29
(NBC network, 12:30 p. m. EST,
WWJ, Detroit, 8 a. m.). This will
be the fourth script in the current
"Wishengrad Festival" series, re-
peat broadcasts of the most pop-
- War radio plays written by Mr.
Wishengrad for the program.
The Eternal Light, a coast - to-
coast radio program presented
under the auspices of the Jewish
Theological Seminary of America,
is a public service presentation
of the National Broadcasting
Company.
At Kol Nidre services at 6
p. m. next Friday, at Bnai David,
Rabbi J. S. Sperka will speak on
the subject "The Potter's Hand."
On fom Kippur morning, Rabbi
Sperka's topic will be "The Will
to Live." Cantor Hyman Adler
will be assisted by a choir under
the direction of David Shkolnick.
Junior services will be con-
ducted by a rabbi from the staff
of Yeshivath Beth Yehudah in
the synagogue chapel, and the
children's services, under the di-
rection of a Bnai David teacher,
will be held in the small hall of
the synagogue, 11 to 1 and 4 to
5:30, on Yom Kippur.
Bnai David's religious school
opened its sessions at Central
High School on Sept. 15. Par-
ents may still enroll their chil-
dren at the synagogue or on Sun-
day morning at Central High.
Rabbi Sperka will deliver a
Yorn Kippur message over Sta-
tion WWJ at 11:30 a. m. Sunday.
Cantor Adler, accompanied by
Dan Frohman, will participate in
the broadcast.
