1,000 Hadassah Women Launch
Annual Honor Roll Campaign
Denies Hungarian Jew!
Seek to Return to Hungary
BUDAPEST (JTA) — Dr. Lanlo
Nagy, secretary-general of the
Zionist Federation of Hungary,
denied reports in Budapest news-
papers that large numbers of
Hungarian Jews who settled in
Palestine are seeking to return
to this country.
Dr. Nagy declared that anti-
Zionist groups in Hungary are at-
tempting to exploit recent unrest
in Palestine and are circulating
this "irresponsible and tenden-
cious allegation."
A Hungarian-Palestine cham-
ber of commerce iAas been found-
ed here to re-establish trade and
industrial contacts which were
broken off between the two na-
tions during the war.

Miss Gertrude Strauss, presi-
dent of Detroit Unit of Junior
Hadassah, greeted the first meet-
ing of Junior Hadassah on Sept.
15, in the WWJ auditorium.
The program chairman, Char-
lotte Kruger, conducted the busi-
ness portion of the program.
Miss Rhodine Ungar, member-
ship chairman, announced that a
hayride would take place Oct.
19, a paid-up membership dance
in November, a Hanukah party in
December, a fund raising dance
in February, and a donor affair
in April.
Miss Frances Waterman, fund-
raising chairman, indicated that
quotas for the year will be $3,-
000, and the February dance will
be the means of surpassing this
amount.

Detroit Chapter of Hadassah, on Sept. 20, at the Book Cadillac
Hotel, marking the opening of the Hadassah Honor Roll campaign.

Funds raised by Hadassah in its Honor Roll drive go for the
various Hadassah causes in Palestine. and are used for the support
of Youth Aliyah, the settlement program for refugee children; the
Iiadassah hospitals, nurses' training and health education programs;
Jewish National Fund and other activities for the redemption of the
Jewish Homeland.
