Mrs. Emanuel M. Baker and children, Richard and Janice, of
17409 Roselawn, are spending several months in Hollywood, Fla.,
where they joined Mr. Baker.
Mr. and Mrs. L. Abramovich have as their guest for a month
their niece, Mrs. Maurice Maslin of Los Angeles.
Judy . Pregerson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Aaron M. Pregerson
of Webb Ave., has resumed her studies at the University of Mich-
igan.
Mr. and Mrs. Harry Stone of Fullerton Ave. and Mr. and Mrs.
Abner Baker of Tuxedo Ave. left for New York to spend the
holiday week-end.
Mrs. Ruth Bruson Edelson. daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Martin
Bruson of Yellowstone Ave., nursing arts instructor at Deaconess
Hospital, returned from New York where she studied at Columbia
University in preparation for her M. A. degree. She has left for a
10-day stay in Atlantic City to attend the national convention of
the American Nurses Assn.
Harry Stolsky returned from Belmar, N. J., where he attended
the annual convention of Agudath Israel, Sept. 12-15. He also
visited in New York with relatives and friends.
Mrs. Lena Frank of Baltimore, Md., is visiting her brother and
sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Rube Sharfman of Monterey Ave.
Mr. and Mrs. Sam Shafer and daughter, Florence Bea, for-
merly of Cortland Ave., are now residing in their new home, 1900
W. Ramona Blvd., Alhambra. Calif. Their son, Marvin Donald, is
continuing his studies at the University of Michigan.
Mrs. Blanche Mandel of Hotel Tuller is returning this week
from a three-month trip covering Lake Louise, Alberta, Canada;
an extensive three-week Alaskan tour and visits to Seattle, San
Francisco and Los Angeles.
Mr. and Mrs. Hyman Nover, formerly of Saginaw, Mich., now
residing on Philadelphia Ave., Detroit, celebrated their 50th wed-
ding anniversary Sunday, Sept. 15, with a dinner at Zack's. The
Novers have eight children and 13 grandchildren. Among the many

Mr and Mrs. Louis Flamholtz, Leonard Epstein, Miss Marilyn

versary celebration of Mrs. Collens' parents, Mr. and Mrs. Hyman

The engagement of Layne Berman. daughter of Mrs. Ida Ber-
man. of Detroit, and Harold A. Berman, of Glendale, Calif., to
Robert Colman, son of Mr. and Mrs. A. J. Colman, of Detroit and
Grand Haven, was announced at a dinner party at the Statler Hotel,
Sept. 14.
Mrs. Frances Maldaver of Chicago blvd. was hostess at a
luncheon party at Huyler's L'Aiglon Room, honoring Hortense Her-
man. whose marriage to Albert Kaufman will take place on Oct. 20.
Mr. and Mrs. Harry Pittleman and daughters, Estelle and Marilyn.
of Milwaukee, Wis., former Detroiters, were guests here of Mr. and
Mrs. Al Jacobs and Mr. and Mrs. Maurice Leinoff after attending the
wedding of their son, Irving. in Cleveland. On Tuesday evening a
family reunion was held at the Stockholm, prior to the guests' de-
parture for their home in Milwaukee.
Daniel and Aaron Rosenblatt of Virginia Park have left for
New York where they will resume their studies at the Graduate
School of Columbia University.
Mr. and Mrs. Herman Myers of Cleveland spent a few days
with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Peter Travis of Boston Blvd.

Morgenstern Asks
To Retire as Head
Of HUC by July '47
CINCINNATI (JTA)—Dr. Julian
Morgenstern, president of Hebrew
Union College for the past 25
years, has asked the board of gov-
ernors for retirement effective
July 1, 1947, it was announced.
Dr. Morgenstern, 65, requested
the privilege of continuing as a
faculty member and participating
in research at the college. He gave
as reasons for retirement the de-
sire to do scientific work in the
Bible and the history of Judaism,
and the belief the college,. Amer-
ica's oldest Jewish seminary, is on
the threshold of a new era. His
request will be acted on in Jan-
uary, 1947.
