More than 10,000,000 pounds of
supplies, half of it foodstuffs, were
shipped by the J.D.C. from the
United States alone to Jewish sur-
vivors in nearly 50 countries over-
seas during the first six months of

stuffs; quantities of household ar-
ticles, blankets, pots and pans;

of dollars worth of tools and raw
materials for use in JD.C.-sup-

ects.
These shipments were part of an
extensive J.D.C. supplies program
providing relief goods to distressed
Jews throughout the world. In ad-
dition to the J.D.C.'s extensive
purchases in the United States,
goods are purchased in Europe and
through cooperating agencies in
S)titli America. Canada. Australia
and South Africa. Other sources
of the J.D.C. supplies shipments
are the contributions of these co-
operating agencies and relief-in-
kind donations to the J.D.C.'s SOS
(Supplies for Overseas Survivors)
campaign. the nationwide drive to
collect 20.000.000 pounds of con-
tribut,:d relief goods.

Germany, Austria and Italy, J.D.C.
assistance is supplementary to
UNRRA and Army aid.
Into the camps, for - distributing
among the Jewish survivors, the
J.D.C. has shipped this year more
than 42,000 food packages, each
containing twelve items: split peas,
coffee, fat, candy, salami, prunes,
baby foods, tea, tinned meat, soap,
evaporated milk and dried peaches.
But 75 per cent of the Europe's
Jews live in countries where no
Army or UNRRA help is available.
In Hungary and Rumania, thou-

Poland, where 140.000 Jews have
recently returned from years of
wartime haven in Asiatic Russia,
the J.D.C. has distributed tons of
