Night Intrigue by the Sea

BY SARA PRILILA

There's an aura of intrigue
In the nakednes of night,
The bewitching hour
When the wind gathers to.
The draperies of dusk,
And unveils the breath-taking beauty
Of the exuberant earth
And the sapient sky.
There's an excitement is just walking
Side by side,
Along a deserted boardwalk,
And listening to the turmoil of the sea.

There's a devil's madness
In the quiet calm of darkness,
When the oracle of night
Exposes the arrogance of the sea.
And the war-like waves.
That race like mad-men
To the inland shore.

The SOS (Supplies for Overseas
Survivors) Collection of the Joint
Distribution Committee will con-
duct a special fall campaign to
collect 10,000,000 cans of food for
distribution to surviving Jews in
Europe, it is announced by Mrs..
Felix M. Warburg, SOS honorary
chairman.
The first phase of the campaign
will extend to the end of October,
covering the entire period of the
Holy Days. The drive will be
spearheaded by a national "SOS
Week," Sept. 29 to Oct. 5, between
Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur.
Robert Dolins, SOS national di-
rector, points out that SOS will
continue to collect vitally needed
relief supplies after this special
drive ends, until the need is over.

fro,.

There's a terror in the sanguinary
sounds
Of the singing surf.
The never ending song of the sea.
There's a strange and wierd music
In the rushing current that rises
Like a deluge of voices.
From the watery crevice of eternity.

Echoes far into the hollows of the night
And fills the gaps of silence.
